Subject: Designing "new" 80s fashions...

Written By: GoGoGirl on 4/4/2000 at 9:48 p.m.

I have always been a huge fan of fashion, ever since I was about 7 or 8 (seriously!), and I always followed the fads of the past 15 or so years. In high school, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer for the new millenium!! Well, I'm really handy with a sewing machine, and I'm an artist who loves to create (or re-create) different looks. Well, this summer I'm going to raid all the thrift shops in my area for old clothes from the 80s (trust me, they have tons of them!!) and re-create and design them and make them my own! I'm going to make a whole new outfit for this summer's Go-Go concert, and I'm going full 80s throttle from head to toe! My really good friend, Matt, and I dressed up 80s last year, but it wasn't wild enough for me! Give me neon pink, crimped hair, neon green and pink hairspray, a frilly tulle skirt, lacy ankle socks and turqouise pumps, bangles, huge door-knocker earrings, and spandex! And for the guys, get out those sexy dark suits and skinny ties with Duran Duran hair! I want all of you to look like you belong in an 80s new wave boyband! I personnally think that in the next 10 years we will see *some* sort of 80s revival, but it all takes an effort on our part. I still wear my jelly bracelets, ponytail to the side, and I have a really cool denim jacket that I stuck pinbacks all over! I've gotten several compliments on it even and it was my own creation! I also hear that crimped hair is coming back, but sadly I threw my crimper out about 4 years ago :(

Peace, Lori

I, too would like to see an 80's fasion revival. Not only so I can wear some of the things I still have in the back of my closet, but mostly because of the sense of fashion freedom. Almost anything was ok, and you didn't have to worry about looking like a weirdo. I've been testing the waters at work, with compliments, and I've tried a few things with my daughter's clothes, too. She thinks she looks "sooo cool!" and her friends like it too. They always want to know where I got the outfits.

80s are coming back...

... I'd also like to see those 80s clothes again! Duran Duran were very hot and cool! Mode also did a fine job! And, wow, I like Cyndi Lauper and Madonna! They were hot in the 80s!!! Where are these girls!

May the revival come soon!

Yours, Tobi
