Anyone remember the 1982 classic Da Da Da I Don't Love You You Don't Love Me Aha Aha Aha by the german group Trio?
It reached #2 in the UK and was popular all across Europe. It also went top 10 in many other countries including Canada and Brazil. Sadly, the song went un-noticed in America ... until 1997 when it was used in a popular Volkswagen commercial

The song inspired my brother to buy a Casio keyboard like the one they use in the video.

Of course I remember! It reached #7 in Dutch Top 40 in 1982. And being this close to Germany, I also know the original German version Da Da Da Ich Lieb' Dich Nicht Du Liebst Mich Nicht.
IIRC, that 'original' German language version was issued on the flip of the English version over here...
It was mostly a common occurrence for foreign language versions to be re-recorded in English for our market (such is the way we are!)
They released several other singles that were less successful. Two of them were Hearts Are Trump/Herz Ist Trumpf (which I believe did reasonably well in UK)
Well, it certainly didn't chart over here Henk...and I can't say I've even heard of that one! Anyone else?

It came out on a re-issue a few years back on "Trio and Error" a best of comp. I still remember their cheesey videos that use to run in the early eighties. minimal synth pop.

It didn't? :-\\ Guess I was wrong then. I'm sure I remember it in the charts somewhere in Europe (other than Germany) - and it wasn't The Netherlands, too. I could've sworn it was UK.

It still strikes me odd that Da Da Da never charted in the States. You'd think a song like this would atleast be in the US top 20 ???
