Bat Outta Hell-Meatloaf
Life is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back-Meatloaf
American Pie-Don McClean

Aqualung-Jethro Tull
I know there are more but that is all I can't of right now.
Who's next?

Don't Stop Me Now-Queen
I only wanna say that just today I heard a cover version of this song by British (sp?) band McFly. It was okay, but don't crank your volume just yet.
As for me - let me think about it.

I used to live next door to a band and that was the ONLY song they knew how to play. 24 hours a day, that was all we heard-and they were AWFUL. I can't listen to that song to this day without cringing.

Out of all English-speaking countries, didn't ABBA have the most chart success in Australia, even more than England? It seems like ABBA is featured in every Australian movie in one way or another...

Oh yes, for sure, no other country embraced ABBA the way Australians did. Their concert in 1976 (which was captured in film) was said to rival the Beatles visit just 12 years earlier. I think after that visit - and the subsequent movies 'Muriel's Wedding' and 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert' - ABBA was woven into the fabric of Australian pop culture in the latter 20th century.

I was talking more about the sort of cranked where it's not actually playing, but it's blaring in your mind.. it's such a.. miserable song. It's the kind of song you grieve to.. so it's not so much being blared as it is the soundtrack to your misery, and it's quite loud.

Yeah, I get ya...sort of. But on the whole, I do think some songs actually speak 'louder', and are played at their best effect at a lower volume. Sometimes it adds that added sensitivity to the lyrics and the mood of the music.
