Female servers/waitresses really irk me. I have found that they really tend to cater to the male person/customer at the table, while I sit there and get treated like I'm not even there. If you are the man at the table, you get tons of chitchat, friendly smiles, your drink refilled w/o even having to ask, etc...however, I could sit there with only ice in my glass for an hour....if not speaking up and ASKING for a refill. ::)

Of course, this doesn't happen ALL the time...but enough times for me to mention how much it annoys me.

Crappy/biased service seems to follow me around. Of the last few times I've eaten out, in one, our waiter (male) disappeared for over 20 minutes at the end - we were seriously considering an "eat and run". We could have pulled it off except I decided "pay and bitch" was a much better (and legal) alternative.

We went to Ruby Tuesdays last night - for the last time. The waitress almost pretended my wife wasn't there, especially after everyone elses food came except hers. I had to track her down and say "Where is her food?". I also found it odd she addressed a table of three women and a man as "guys".

But as far as getting better service because of my gender, I haven't seen it. Usually when things go wrong they screw up my order (which they did last night). It's been a long time since I've seen a 'coffee, tea or me' type waitress...

Maybe it's because the waitress thinks the man is going to pay, and therefore has a better chance at a greater tip if she focuses on him?

I always hated when waitresses would sit down or almost kneel down next to the table to take the order, this always seemed really unprofessional. I used to be a server in numerous restaurants, and I know how tiring it can be, however, I would have never thought to do something like that...it's almost like you are invading someone's space.

Oh man I HATE that. I bought an expensive dress for a wedding and the girl who served me left the security tag on. I didn't realise until I got the dress home as it didn't set off the door alarms (great security!) So I took it back the next day in my lunch hour, dressed in combats,steelies and a denim jacket, my work attire.The girl behind the counter could hardly bring herself to acknowledge me let alone serve me! When she finally deigned to see me, she in so many words accused me of stealing the dress despite the fact I had the recipt! I assume because I was dressed 'badly' in an expensive store.

Yes i try to always be professional,attentive and polite to everyone...men or women,but it's a well known fact that women don't tip as much as men do,i have no clue why 'cause i make sure i always tip when being served but maybe i do because i'm in their shoes,i don't know...

The thing is server's pay are low,really lousy,when you get the job the boss will tell you..."you'll make tons in tips so don't worry",and that's the only reason it's worth it,'cause it is one of the most grueling jobs you can have imo. I tip waiters anywhere between 15-25% depending on whether they brought me my water/soft drinks in a timely manner or not.  And also if they were generally friendly and provided good conversation, I like a good conversation :)

You must be the one in a million!  I pay for the meal (for both of us), tip extra large, but am treated as if there is an empty chair there.  The waiters and waitresses only talk to my husband to ask how the meal is and if he needs anything. I have to speak up for them to even notice that I am there. I even have to ask my husband to ask them for straws and the like.  I think that ALL  waiters and waitresses should never assume that they're just going to get tips, etc. from the man.

That's what is frustrating...that they need help, and another person can't do a thing about it. They have to hit bottom themselves.

My brother kept hitting me up for money for his various habits...alcohol, drugs, etc.  I had to get over the feeling that I was a mean sister if I didn't give him money, and cut off that supply.  Now he never comes around. I still don't know his current situation.

What annoys me is that we pay to have our paper delivered and so far in the last week-1 day it didn't show up. Ok, we can kind of understand because it was just a nasty day. The roads were nothing but ice. So, we were nice and didn't say anything. Then the next day, he was late. He finally came AFTER we called the paper. And then yesterday, it wasn't even on the porch-the rain was really coming down and the paper was right where the water was coming off of the roof-no plastic bag, nothing.  >:( >:( >:(  Carlos read the wet paper but I waited until today so I could read it (and do the puzzles). Once again, a phone call to the paper. We found out this is our paper person's last week-thank the Goddess. Of course since it is his last week, he doesn't care. Today, the paper wasn't on the porch but at least it wasn't wet today. Can't wait to get a new paper person. We FINALLY had a GREAT one but she only lasted a few months. We would love to have her back.

there are 6 to 8 blue Handicap parking spaces and at least half of the vehicles parked in them are Mercedes Benz or Lincoln Navigators  ???  maybe these disabled folk are just very well off financially, but it's so weird to see so many luxury cars in those spots

Check for a handicap placard or an indication of disability on their license plates. If you don't see one, see if you can set up a type of surveillance to see if they're handicapped or not. If they're not, I suggest calling in the police or scraping their cars up with keys, or throwing rocks at it, or dinging them with something. I hate hate HATE it when non-handicapped people park in those spots, especially with all the trouble my dad has to go through to get one of those freakin' placards. >:(

I am not aware of any tax breaks like that here in the U.S.  I guess if you have a serious disease, it's helpful to be tax free. i wish our govt. would give citizens 1 year tax free every ten years or so, no sales tax, no fed or state taxes taken out of pay.  that's my economy stimulus package idea.  ::)

If I go out and get a (cough, cough) job (gag, cough, cough), everything that I make on that job would be tax.  Of course my income is NOT from Social Security disability-my is from my military pension which is an entirely different species.

You really don't make that much less than she does. It just sounds like it because your salary is hourly and hers is yearly. $20,000 isn't all that much anyway. Money doesn't buy happiness.  She was wrong to rub it in your face.  What matters is that you are working not how much you make.  You are much better off.
