Neato.  Do you know anything about the history of the house - I'd love to hear it.

Yes I do, I'll type anything I know out below...

Is the house up for sale?

No, lol, I'm afraid not. Its currently being used as a daycare nursery for lil kids, however who knows what may happen to it in the future.

Ok, the house dates back to the 1800's as far as I know, I'm not sure if its much older than that. I've looked into it before as my gran has alot of old documents and we tried to work out who lived there and when.
The house is supposedly haunted.
Now the following may be abit muddled as I'm trying to remember, but even so, its still all correct, it just depends whether or not I put any in the wrong order.
I'm pretty sure there was people living in the house that we don't know of, but we know that in the early 1900's there was an artist called Briddell?
He'd lived there with his wife and kids.
Then there was a period where a very extraordinary man had lived there called William Burrough Hill. He was a collector of anything unusual or interesting and he made things himself. The garden used to be about 2 acres long or more, however now it is only small-compared to how it used to be.
William Burrough Hill lived with his wife and kids and he had many items of interest in this massive garden, he built a mini stonehenge and had work sheds etc. with amazing architechture and art.
He also worked in a seperate building behind and at the side of this big old house. This seperate building was extended upon in the 40's and made into a bungalow which is now still lived in by my gran.
Anyway, so William Burrough lived in the house a good 10 years we think. His wife had become ill and died as far as we know and he stayed but he eventually died aged about 92, in the big house.
He was very friendly and was also very popular. He was thought to have stolen the big stag statues from off of the top of Southampton gates, and those 2 Sphinx statues shown in the picture are still there and thought to have been the stags carved down into Sphinx shapes.
They never did know for sure.
After William Burrough Hill passed away. We think it went straight to the army, as a sort of watch type building where they would stay or meet. Then after the this, it fell empty for quite a long time. It also is possible that it was bombed at some point. But again this isn't known for sure.
In the 40's my gran and her children, my mum, my family etc. were living in the big house, and then shortly after my grandpa had built upon the seperate building I mention which is by the side of the big house. This is where my gran and grandpa and my mum and her brothers and sisters grew up. But my great gran and grandpa had then lived in this big house.
There was always tales of how things would happen and doors wouldn't open at first tug, and candles would be blown out, and doors closed when people were in the room.
Anyway over the years, people moved in and out, there was a family in the 70's and in the 80's, and in the 90's. In the 90's I think it was a german man and his wife who lived there, but apparently his wife or him became ill and died a few years after moving in.
In about 2000 it became the Tree's Nursery, which is where the kids go when they're like 2 or 3 before school.
I shall find the website for this exact one and post the link.
The house had changed over this century, with names such as Briddell Lodge, Edgecombe house hotel and I'm fairly sure there was another name the house once held.
Anyway, I was born in 1991 obviously so I've seen it for quite a few years, I really only remember it becoming the Tree's Nursery though.
When its closed for the night and the kids go home and the workers, I'll sometimes sneak in the backgarden etc.
Hence why I got those pictures, which one of the users on here had requested a fair while ago.
Hope this history isn't too hard to understand, and I hope you understand its difficult knowing the exact history of the top of my head, when I've only lived 16 years lol.

peace.

That above photo is really creepy. Its how I remember it from back in the 90's/early 00's...

The Trees Day Care Nursery at 188 Regents Park Road, Shirley, Southampton, was opened on 30 November 1998 and is registered for 83 children. The Edwardian property was a magnificent manor house which was converted into a hotel before being purchased by White Horse Child Care Ltd. The large rooms have created an excellent environment and the mature garden has provided an ideal space for outdoor play. It is located near to the Southampton General Hospital and Shirley shopping centre and is conveniently close to the main approach road into Southampton centre from the New Forest and the West.
