I was looking through my old school scrapbooks, and thought it'd be fun to share some of it online (kids say the darndest things)...well, I will tommorow, as it's pretty late atm (someone remind me if I haven't done so by tommorow morning). Got alot of short stories, drawings, and other miscellany...

Ahhh! Great Idea. I have some stuff too- it's hysterical. I"ll take pics of it and post it.

(I'll do them one per post, for the sake of those who don't have the luxury of broadband - hence they can look at one while waiting for the other to load)

This first one dates from 1995, when I was absolutely obsessed with basketball. Not exactly part of the school curriculum, just one of my doodlings of my hero - Shaq - when he
was still with the Orlando Magic (showing my age  :D).

This one I found interesting - as I'd completely forgotten all about it. It was sort of a 'concept' of a 'beat 'em up' video game idea I had, drawn up either in 1996 or 1997 (I suspect the former). Of course, fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter.etc were the rage back then, and I was the hardly schoolkid drawing up his own fantasy games. Ahhh...the good 'ol days.

Here's a larger version: http://au.geocities.com/trimac20/writing.jpg

An entry for a 'diary' we had to write in class. I think the idea of this was to get us to express our feelings, our experiences.etc and traslate them into words. I LOL'ed when I read some of this stuff - kids say the darndest things, don't they?  ;D

Here's what it says, spelling mistakes AND grammatical errors included
Topic question: What do you think a true friend is?

I think a true friend will help you when your in trouble. And need help. They would stand up for you in a fight. And they might invite you to a party or to come over.

I would go quite far for a friend. But I wouldn't steal or do anything wrong for them. I wouldn't hurt anyone for them, or hurt there feelings. But I would Help them out if they are in need. And lend them money sometimes. I would share with them and be with them when they are lonely.

If I were Prime Minister...

I was the Priminister I wouldn't use GST (Goods & Services Tax, a pertinent political issue at the time). I would cut hours spent in school (from 10:00am to 2:30pm). I would also use more money for shopping centres and amusement parks. I would also spend money on environmental issues like the Greenhouse effect.

I will also give everyone a home, and leave no one homeless. I would build larger cities and try to boost the population by them. I will try to increase the money in Government...cont

Fortunately my writing has improved somewhat since (at least I hope so)...but what I love is the innocence of naivety of childhood and a child's mind.

It's blurry, but it's a pic I drew in preschool. Funny, I was a better drawer then than I am now.

That was in sixth grade or so, I haven't made any "real" drawings lately, just comics, such as...

This...

Here's a link to an excerpt from my 3rd grade assignment book that is actually readable, this section goes from March 28, 1996- April 3, 1996. There's actually only a few pages in this book, I think I started to keep an assignment then soon after I stopped writing in it.

A big shame, Cat...it's a wonderful drawing...

Unfortunately, my schoolbooks/scribbling anthologies went to the dump a long time ago and have never been seen since!

Thanks. I LENT all my paints/brushes and never saw them again.  :\'(  I'm not too sure if I want to invest in it again. But every now and again, I will draw a tree or two (which I found helped me when I was sitting in class-but since I'm not in school anymore... :-\\ )

The funny thing is, I never really thought that I did have talent. What I saw in my mind was never what I saw on the paper. But looking at my old sketch book, maybe I did have just a little.

I know we can be our own worst critics, but you have a wonderful gift and I'm glad to see that you think so (even if it's just a little)... ;)
