Subject: Neil Young or Crosby,Stills,Nash&Young

Any big folk fans out there? Did anyone catch CSNY 2002? I saw them in Columbus and was captivated. Neil and Stills have lost some voice but Nash and Cros still sound great. Second half was accoustic and very moving. I have downloaded about everything of Neil's and I really enjoy In Concert 91...All four of these guys are superb musicians and writers.

"Tin soldiers and Nixon coming
we're finally on our own
this summer I hear the drumming
four dead in Ohio"  -  Neil Young

I love Crosby, Stills & Nash!!! :D When I was growing up my parents always played folk music...Joan Baez, Gordon Lightfoot, CS&N, etc.  I got to see Crosby, Stills & Nash in concert in 1995 and they were great!  8)  Neil Young is pretty good, although I was never as familiar with his music as that of his counterparts.

Both !  I love the music of CSNY and Neil Young on his own.

Although I have to add that Neil's output has varied somewhat wildly between fantastic (Harvest) (NB, not Harvest Moon) and the likes of (Trans).

The saying "What was he on" comes to mind  ;)

I love them. Ohio is deffinately my favorite song that they did together. A very powerful song. I'm sure a lot of people now- a-days have no idea what happened at Kent State in 1971. Very sad.

You betcha. The first ever memory of hearing music I have was listening to Field Of Opportunity about 13 years ago. Since then, I've enjoyed listening to NY, and CSNY, and, for that matter, CSN.

I like CSNY a whole lot more than I like CSN.  But I prefer Young solo, there's just not much I can do with CSNY.

Not much you can do with CSNY?  I'm a bit confused by that statement.  :-/

I was always a fan of the group and individuals.  I saw Neil Young on stage in Boulder CO I guess late 60s or early 70s.  We thought he would show up with Crazyhorse, but he did a complete acoustic set on guitar and some piano, by himself.  It was one of the best concerts I've beent to.   He's a great songwriter and performer.

I'm saying a lot of it doesn't move me, is all.  For example, I can't think of anything that wasn't off of Deja Vu that I like at all.

Hey Fuss Budget, Trans was the experiment Neil did because he wanted people to understand how frustrating it was to understand his son who can't communicate like most of us...thus the synthesizer. Neil's willingness to venture away from things that would of made him a ton of money is one of the reasons I respect him. His political activism is another. He was warning about the environment when he made "After The Goldrush".  He is an original founder of Farm Aid. This dude has more on his mind than the sports page or Everquest.

ROCK ON!

Hey Catwomanofv, Kent shootings were 1970 not 1971. Six months later the Marshall University plane went down killing all 70 players, coaches, boosters and crew. This occurred in my hometown. OHIO is special to me also and I listen to it regularly in my truck on the way to work. Those kids died and no serious effort was put forth to bring the guilty to justice. Harvest Moon is just a beautiful love song; when I saw "The Pall Bearer" I was so pleased when I heard this song as Schwimmer and Paltrow sat on the steps about to become romantically involved. Neil has been referred to as "The grandfather of grunge" his lrics in Hey Hey My My were cited by Cobain in his suicide note. Neil's songs have been featured in several recent movies including American Beauty, the Show Me The Money movie and of course the haunting Philadelphia.

Or maybe that should be Godfather of Grunge.

PEACE!

You are right. I knew that and I don't know why I put down '71. I guess it was just a "senior moment"  ;) Thanks.
