Subject: The Munsters or The Addams Family

I have always liked The Munsters best. I'll never outgrow my love for the show. Too funny!  :D

I did watch both and thought The Addams Family was alright. I liked the sensuality Gomez and Morticia shared.  :)

That is such a tough one. I really don't know. I liked both of them. Along with "playing" the Brady Bunch, we used to "play" the Addams family. Being the youngest, I was Wednesday. One of my sisters was Uncle Fester and another was Cousin It. We still call them that when we want to really p*ss them off.  ;)

I always liked Herman and Grampa's antics. They were so funny together. FYI-Al "Grampa" Lewis ran for Congress in NY several years back. He didn't win.

I liked them both, the Munsters because of their interaction with the outside world and The Addams Family because of their interaction amongst themselves.

Morticia and Gomez have to be the coolest couple.

"Oh, Tish, that's French!!  ;D

I don't usually care for the movie version of old t.v. shows but I have to say that Raul Julia as Gomez was YUMMMMMY. (I guess I have this thing for Puerto Rican men.  ;))

As a kid, I watched both. I recently couldn't sit through an Adams Family episode as an adult, but I always like the Munsters. So I'd say Munsters were my favorite. I was scared of Cousin Itt when I was a kid. :o :o :o :o :o

I couldn't tell you many details about either of the shows, but I always kinda preferred the Munsters.  Even now if I happen to flip past TVLand when they're on I'll often stop to watch it.  It's pretty cute and funny!

Hey, fellow NYer ~ I think Al "Granpa" Lewis is still going strong at a ripe age.Last I saw him (it's been a while) was on the old Richard Bey Show and than on the radio a few yrs ago when he was running for mayor or something - do you remember that ?

Oh oh !  I am gonna buck the trend here a bit.

I never used to watch either of them, but as the years have passed I have seen some.

I actually like the Addams family more.  I have always had the impression that the Munsters was created as another network's 'answer' to the Addams Family.  Is that impression correct ?

FB  ???

Yes, you're correct about the "network answer." It was strange - I had written my post above about Al Lewis, went into the other room and "Car 54 Where are You" -the remake film - was on. There was Al Lewis in a hospital bed watching The Munsters - too much ! What a coincidence.

I preferred 'The Munsters' to 'The Addams Family'.

I reckon Fred Gwynne's make-up didn't take too long to do because he looks like that anyway! If you saw 'My cousin Vinnie' you'll know what I mean.

Munsters were monsters and The Addams Family were a bunch of massochists.
