Oh man! That show creeped me out. :o The theme music was really creepy with the waves crashing against the rocks. My sister used to watch it everyday. I didn't realize it was a soap opera back then.

Cheezy as hell, but I still watched that crap early in the freaking morning on the Sci-Fi channel. I never saw the episodes in sequence, so it was random and weird. My girlfriend was into it, so that pretty much made me a viewer ::)

I have to agree with Repo man I tried to watch them on Sci Fi channel since they are on around 10 AM  and you got to love it when they make a point and the music heightens and they fade to black, but the point they were trying to make happened 2 episodes ago!  :P After watching about 5 of them I gave up.  :-/

As for that time period of shows I like Night Gallery and the Twilight zone more.

CatWomanOfV~ If I even hear the theme music I revert back to being 6 years old again ! LOL ;D

My sister was the Dark Shadows fan, so it was usually on at our house after school. My sister and her school friends donned the different character's names and-I don't know why-but they were really into it. She was Angelique. LOL !

In the late 80s they ran DS episodes on our local PBS station. WHAT A THRILL it was to see these as an adult. The acting and sets , lighting AND sound were pathetically bad -giving it it's unique charm, however. Years later, it was a crack up to know that Mary Beth Lacey's husband, Harvey, starred in DS .

Back in the 60s, Barnabas (Johnathan Frid ?) was featured in the teen mags I used to read - 16, Tiger Beat, Fave and Flip

Every afternoon after school, it would be on at my house. I think all my sisters were into it (not too sure about my brother). I think that was the ONE show that ALL of us could agree on. One of my sisters had a music box that played Josette's theme and she also had the 45 of Quentin's Theme (which was on the top 40 at one point in time)I remember when they came out with the movies-"House of Dark Shadows" and I think another one, but I can't remember. We all went to the movies to see it. I was so thrilled when they started showing it on Sci-fi. Haven't watched it in a while but I still love it.

I used to watch it off and on. I really liked the part in 'modern times' and also back in the 1700s with Barnabus and Josette and Jeremiah etc. The other time periods they did didn't thrill me too much. I do remember I really liked the part where Reverand Trask got walled up! In the Summer of 1970, there was a half hour show called Now Explosion (sort of a forerunner of MTV) that ran ooposite DS, so I deserted it for awhile in favor of the music 'videos' (mostly go go dancers in front of pulsating amoebas.... ::) )

I've caught some of the old reruns of DS, and love watching how cornily bad the acting was... I remember one episode in an antique shop where the actress reaches for a letter in a desk drawer, looks taken aback for a moment and then says: "Oh! I'll go get it..." and walks ofstage, 'cus someone forgot the prop! ;D

I never saw the show but I really like Quentin's Theme (Shadows In The Night), especially the violin version.  What a beautiful melody for what I guess was a creepy show.

That women, Josette, the blonde, had the strangest eyes. It added to her character a lot, I thought.

Josette or Anglique? Anglique was the blonde and Barnabas' nemisis. Josette was a brunette who Barnabas was in love with.

Anglique! Yes. For some reason I thought I remembered them as being one and the same, just in a time warp. They say that the memory goes first, lol. Anyway do you remember her eyes? Kinda like Kristy Ally.

If you love the show so much did yuo ever join the fan club..Occasionally I get invites to the events like they usually all meet in NY city and take a trip to the castle where they filmed 'Night of DS' in Connecticut and a lunch etc..
Lara Parker played Angelique. Was that Kathy Parker?
They even sell books on the show and a meet the cast get together usually put together by Kathryn Leigh Scott. Some have departed and for those wondering whatever happened to..I was told David Hennesey moved to Costa Rica.
And you remember Denise Nickerson from Willy Wonka....

It seems that DS now has a cult following (similar to Star Trek and others). I'm not saying it is bad. In fact, it sounds like fun to go to one of those conventions. Yes, I do remember Denise Nickerson. There is a commercial out (I can't remember what for) with a woman who looks like her.

I've never watched it, but my parents are big fans of the show. They have a video collection.
