Subject: Favorite Monkees ' Songs

Written By: Twinkle on 06/28/03 at 06:55 a.m.

:)

I may not grow up with thier songs but I like and am interested in the past decades music scene.. Those songs from past decades are fantastic and classic.

I love "Daydream Believer" and "I'm a Believer".

The animated movie "Shrek" use the latter in it.However it was a remake by Smashmouth.

Are there any other recommended Monkees's songs ?

Check out "Randy Scouse Git/Alternate Title" - it is a bit different from their standard fare... ;)

Believe it or not, that was a very subtle anti-war song.

The one I kind of like (which a lot of people probably don't remember) was "Auntie Gazelda".  I haven't heard it in years-decades actually.

Pleasant Valley Sunday... a minimal tune musically, but with a lot of meaning behind it lyrically. And in this day and age of urban sprawl, it's almost become prophetic.

Finally!  I thread on the Monkees!  I knew I loved this bulletin board for some reason.  My faves have to be "Daily Nightly", "Randy Scouse Git", "Pleasant Valley Sunday", "All of Your Toys".  I could go on and on, but I'll stop.  I LOVE the Monkees.  Micky is my all time favorite.  They RULE!

I forgot "Going Down".  I guess it could almost be considered early rap.  Ha!

It should also be noted that they were one of the first bands to use the moog synthesizer, not to mention responsible for MTV as we know it.
