Subject: Help with 1960s "Housewife"

Written By: francienol on 06/28/03 at 08:33 p.m.

Hello Guys: I need help with finding info on a 1960s comedian. Her name was (is) Betty Walker. She appeared on Mike Douglas, I think Merv and perhaps Ed Sullivan. Her signature bit was her on a telephone gossiping to her girlfriend "Ceil." She opend the bit in a very nasal NYC accent..."Hellooo Ceil..it's me" (I'm a New Yorker myself so please no comments..LOL!) As she was kibbutzing with Ceil, she would be screaming at her (imaginary kids) She was a riot...does anyone remember her? Does anyone know where to get an old comedy album of hers? It was titled.."Hello Ceil, it's Me" Tried Ebay and other sources, so far no luck. Can't even find a pic of her. Also checked Mike Douglas site. Actually I do have a job...not just looking for this stuff..LOL! Would love the album as a B-Day gift for a friend. Even if you can't help would love to see posts re: memories of her. Thanks

I don't know if this is the person you are talking about. There really isn't too much info here but maybe it will lead you to something else-at least it is a start. Good luck with your search.

Thanks Cat..I tried IMdb as well...not the same Betty Walker. As far as I know she was "just" a comic" and the age did not fit...thanks for trying though! :)

I remember watching a cartoon in the early 60's called Beanie & Cecil. In one episode, this space alien family came to Earth for a picnic. The mother spent the day kibbutzing in a NYC accent on a futuristic phone while yelling at her alien kids. I had no idea this was drawn from a real person.

Go to http://www.comedycollege.net/ and you can listen to Betty Walker who is the woman you're looking for. There are several other great comics that you can listen to and it's great fun.

I would suggest you go to Rhino Records as they specialize in reissuing hard to find and vintage albums. Good luck!
