Subject: 60's British Pop?

Written By: Gilligan on 09/26/03 at 07:17 p.m.

Does anyone here like 60's British Pop?  I lilke the Beatles a lot.  I like the Swinging Blue Jeans as well, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Searchers...although I think they were American.  LOL    You?

On the contrary. The Searchers were from good ol' Liverpool, England.

I love 60s British pop. Mainly brought up on 60s British invasion and American rock. The Beatles, The Byrds (obviously to a lesser extent, they being American), Wayne Fontana with or without his Mindbenders, Spencer Davis, und so weiter...

I think the fact that we've now got acoustic bands back in the public eye, especially over here in England, that's got to be a good sign for the years to come.

Yep, 60s British pop was great even though it was before my time. The stuff was very original.

Hee hee! Yes I love the Sixties British Stuff as well. My favourite bands are Herman's Hermits, The Bachelors, Scaffold and The Move (featuring Roy Wood, the man that would later form 'Wizzard').

I love the 60's British stuff.  So do my kids.  Can't beat it for a sing-a-long in the car!

I like 60's Brit pop also!  Speaking of the Beatles, I have heard this song lately on oldies radio and I really like it.  Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the song or what album its from.  It's a slower song with I believe Lennon singing something like "I don't know where to go" holding it for a few notes.  The chorus sings "Look at the sun" and "Steal my guitar" I think.  Its hard to make out the words cuz I always seem to be driving and then the radio station goes to a commercial so I don't hear the name of the song.  Please help if you can..Thanks!

The answer to my question is "Why my Guitar Gently Weeps" written by George Harrison.

Maybe not equals with The Beatles but I'd say contempories at that time in the states would be groups like The Beach Boys, Paul Revere & the Raiders, Tommy James & the Shondells
