Subject: Can anyone tell me what this song is called?

Written By: Bobby on 01/05/04 at 04:52 a.m.

It is a doo-wop kind of song and has been in adverts (notably in a WH Smith's advert in the mid 80s and more recently in an Impulse advert).

It starts the verse by saying 'You're adorable . . .' goes on a little bit and then starts another verse by saying 'You're beautiful'. Something like that.

It finishes a verse usually with a 'da dah da dah da dah da dah da daaaah daaaaa' and then cuts to the next one.

I'm afraid that is the only information I can give.

Hi Bobby - Could this be the Alphabet Love Song? (You're Adorable is the correct title I think).  Perry Como sings it and I've even heard it sung on Sesame Street!

Could be Da Da Da by Trio.

I reckon jaytee's right, at least that song fits the pattern of the "da da daaahs" that you spelled out Bobby.

A you're adorable
B you're so beautiful
C you're a cutie full of charm

...something about "let's wander through the alphabet of love"...that's all I remember.

I'm afraid it is none of these suggestions. The only thing I can add is unlike 'The Alphabet song', I think the first line is repeated after the second. The verse rises until it reaches that 'da dah da dah da' stage.

I hope someone can help me out it's winding me up.  :)

I've found out what it is. It is called 'Adorable' originally done by The Colts. The version by The Drifters is probably the one from the adverts.

Thanks for all your help though.

chorus)
"A," you're adorable, "B," you're so beautiful,
"C," you're a cutie full of charms.
"D," you're a darling and "E," you're exciting
And "F," you're a feather in my arms.
"G," you look good to me, "H," you're so heavenly,
"I," you're the one I idolize.
"J," we're like Jack and Jill, "K," you're so kissable,
"L," is the lovelight in your eyes.

"M," "N," "O," "P," I could go on all day.
"Q," "R," "S," "T," alphabetically speaking, you're OK.

U," made my life complete, "V," means you're very sweet,
Double-"U" "X" "Y" "Zee."
It's fun to wander through the alphabet with you
To tell you what you mean to me.
(repeat the chorus)
