but I like listening to 50's, 60's, and 70's music. All of my friends think I'm weird. Am I weird?

No, that only means that you have a diverse taste in music.  8)

There's a great range of pop music styles from the '60s, '50s, and before, but you only hear a narrow band of it on "oldie" radio stations.  Some college and community stations have great vintage pop programs.  It's just a matter of finding them.
Your 20, so what?  We make too big a deal about age in America.  Age isn't important unless your a cheese.

No.

Absolutely not.  :)

I myself have always liked many genres and decades worth of music. Liking all that music shows not only your wide range of music tastes, but demonstrates you're cultured and open-minded to great diversity. It's all good. :)

No it means you're smart. I recently lent out an 80s CD to a friend of mine that religiously listens to Hip Hop and his response was "I didn't realise how many of these songs I know". He only fast-forwarded one track (I think that was 'Take me home tonight' by Eddie Money).

I'm 24 years old and listen to those decades of music as well. You're not alone.

If you're weird then I dunno what you'd call me. I'm 19 and I listen to everything under the sun.

I like Portuguese music, Spanish, opera, music from the 40s,50s,60,70,and the 80s. I'm a huge fan of Adam Ant and anything else that a lot of my friends have never heard of. Kudos to you for having an open mind when you listen to music.

A lot of people our age don't want to listen to older music simply because either their parents listen to it or the friends don't listen to it at all.

There is no way on earth you are weird for the kind of music you listen to. What I try to do is have my friends listen to the music I like to see if they will actually get into it themselves. So far its worked so give it a try and see what happens!!

No one can judge you for what makes you happy, if they don't like what you listen to, thats their problem.

You're definitely not weird.  I grew up w/what's commonly called "oldies", and "show tunes", and '50s pop (NOT rock), etc. I feel fortunate my parents both exposed me to "their" stuff, and had pretty diverse tastes too.  Outside the normal pop thing, there was a surge in country around 1980 (a`la Urban Cowboy).  When I was in HS I really got into the "oldies" rock thing - esp. '50s (I honestly never got into '60s as much as a whole - I like much of it but not as much as other decades).  We had a station that was only oldies, and I and some other teens (yes!) listened to it alot.   I listen to country now, as well as typical '40s stuff, and lots of show tunes and literal soundtracks, and *really* old things (particularly marches).  I'd listen to more really old things if I could find recordings (ragtime, waltzes, dixieland, so-called "folk" which is mostly just popular music of a long-gone era).  Maybe I *am* weird, but I didn't think so!   :D

The great thing is here, you'll find alot of people really open-minded about music.  I've been shocked and gladdened by past threads of this type!   :)

Wow! You listen to ragtime! I have heard nice piano music from Scott Joplin (The Entertainer fame) and I think it's class.

Good on ya! Oiline Rebel.  :D
