Subject: Does anyone remember the 1968 Elvis Special?

Written By: Tony S N Jr Fan on 02/10/04 at 09:12 p.m.

Do you remember the Elvis Presley"comeback"special on NBC in December 1968? I saw it,I thought it rocked! I watched it at my sister's place on her COLOR set,coz my neighborhood did not have cable yet,and we could not get the local NBC affilliate in clearly. I was only eight years old,but I loved Elvis' music from the 50's. To see him performing with his sidemen on that small stage was way cool. And I'll never forget that he had beautiful women surrounding him in the audience! I wished I was one of them! Remember the black leather suit the King wore?I have to wonder what happened to that and the other outfits he wore throughout his career!?! Sadly, there will NEVER be another Elvis-many imitators but one INNOVATOR! :-*

Point of trivia... Once of the King's sidemen in that special was none other than Lance LeGault, who started out playing uncredited bit roles in those cheesy Elvis movies.

Later, Lance played the part of Colonel Decker on the A-Team, and Colonel Buck Greene on Magnum, PI.

I think that was his best live performance I ever saw out of all the TV specials. I liked the casual stage setup. And the square stage was cool. of corse I didn't see it in it's initial run, I was only 4  ;D .
