Subject: Worst Bands: Pre '70's

Written By: A Friendly Lurker on 04/27/04 at 3:31 am

IMO, the worst bands from the 1950's & 1960's.  :P

Nancy Sinatra
Jefferson Airplane
Neil Diamond
Tiny Tim
Lesley Gore
Cher
Singing Nun
The Beach Boys

Nancy Sinatra was a band ?  ;D  If her Dad said so, then she's a band  ;)

I thought Tiny Tim should have BEEN banned......

And Cher was okay in the 60's, even the 70's.  It's only when she got to the 80's and started acting like a 40-50 y.o. teenager that she really became obnoxious  :( ::)

wow, I disagree completely.....(except for Tint Tim and SInging nun..they are pretty bad lol)

Nancy SInatra produced two songs that are just fantastic..."These boots are made for walking" and "Bang bang (my baby shot me down)"....used in Kill Bill

Jeff Airplane had a bunch of psycoldelic masterpeices that were just amazing..."Volunteers" being the best

Neil Diamond....."Solitary man" anyone?  "Cherrry Cherry"? so many more

Lesley Gore and Cher...ok, not exactly favorites, but not awful.....Cher was good with Sonny....

and the Beach Boys......dont even get me started on how much the Beach Boys rule.....SMiLE, Pet SOunds, Wild Honey, Smiley Smile, SUnflower, Surfs up, Summer Days and SUmmer nights, Party!......so many great albums that had so many genius songs on them.............Brian WIlson was a music genius

Ill get off my soapbox lol

I agree with most on your list except for these in the '60s:

Jefferson Airplane, because I like...
Somebody to Love (1967)

Cher, because I like...
Alfie (1966)

The Beach Boys, because I like...
All Summer Long (1964)
and
Wouldn't It Be Nice (1966)

And from other comments...
Herman's Hermits, because I like...
Listen People (1966)

(JA, Cher and HH may have just one song I like but that's more than many other artists of the '60s!)

;D

Petula Clark
Tiny Tim
Mel and Tim (Backfield in Motion, anyone?)
Sam Cooke (Borring!)
The Toys (A Lover's Concerto, even the name is stupid)
Clyde Mc Phatter
Paul Anka
Bobby Vinton
Andy Williams
and last and least, Pat Boone

Bobby Vinton ?
So you don't like "Blue Velvet"?

(and no I'm not asking simply so I could test changing font color, I really do like that song)

;)

I especially don't like any of his songs with "blue" in the title. The only song I liked of his is "My Melody of Love" . 8)

The Beach Boys were the best band in their era and have continued to be right up there through all of the eras since then. Brian was and remains a genius.

They were great until Brian lost his marbles and had to quit the band in the late 60's. Then Mike Love took over and turned them into an cheesy oldies act and they've sucked ever since.

(Recently, Paul McCartney said his favorite song of the 1960's was "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys. I also think that it is a masterpiece and that Pet Sounds was the peak of their creativity.)
