Tired of Waiting
Lola

Anyone ever heard "Johnnie Thunders?" think it was part of a rock opera they once composed.

I chose "You Really Got Me."  A close second for me, at the moment, is their accoustic rendition of Gallon of Gas, from their mid-90s "To The Bone" release.

I chose "You Really Got Me" because it was one of the first really hard-rocking songs. I also really like "Tired Of Waiting For You."

I heard some interesting song in the late 70s by the Kinks, and how I mixed up Johnnie Thunders with the Kinks, I'm not sure I know why. Anyway, the Kinks appear to have become very accomplished musicians, at least Ray Davies must have been.

Sorry for asking about Johnnie Thunders again. Who was it? I found a picture of him in a book, now I´m trying to get more information. By the Way: I love the Kinks! :-[

Johnnie Thunders - I think he was a glam rocker in the New York Dolls.
The Kinks composed a rock opera in the late 70s, which I thought was called Johnnie Thunders.

I too like them all. I've gone for other as my favourite is "Better Things" from the early 80s.

Johnny Thunder is from "The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society".

Wasn't it Chris De Burgh who did Don't Pay the Ferryman"?

Very good timing for this topic - gives me a chance to make all you Kinks fans jealous by telling you that I'm going to see Ray Davies at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool next week. Last year I took my copy of his "unauthorized autobiography" and he signed it for me.

Ray Davies did Johnny Thunder in the show last night.

He dedicated Days to Ronnie Barker, a British comedy actor who died on Monday. His death was only publicly announced yesterday. A great comedy actor who will be missed.  :\'(

So, I last posted in this thread back in 2004 in one of my previous incarnations on this board.

Within the last week I've rediscovered the Kinks and they're my new favorite band right now.

I'd have to say that my current favorite song by them is "Do It Again" (1984).

(Although I'm also really digging "Waterloo Sunset" as well.)

I've heard shamefully few Kinks songs...but 'Lola' is a great song. I saw Ray Davies last week, and I was disappointed he didn't play any songs from the 'Village Green Preservation Society' one of my favourite albums.
