No Beach Boys......you need your hearing and or personality checked.  A little Prozac may raise your seratonin to a level where you can enjoy great, good time music by the best ever......The Beach Boys. ;D

A song that always irks me and why they let it be released(maybe they wanted to be rebellious), was, "Don't Say Nothing Bad About My Baby".

The melody is fine but when they throw in the verse "SO YOU BETTER SHUT YOUR MOUTH!"
Singing along with it up to that point makes me switch the channel on the radio.
:o

A calmer: "SO PLEASE DON'T TALK LIKE THAT" would be easier on the ears.

Peace-
Saver

Tommy Roe had some great songs. My friend Karla had his greatest hits album, and always used to sing along with "Sheila" in this effected, cutsy voice. To this day I cannot sing Sheila without doing the same voice!  ;D

I, and probably many others (go on, admit it!) can't help doing my 'own' rendition of that intro, i.e., bang the hell out of anything stationary...!!

Probably a sign of the great divide called 'age'...a good portion of what woops doesn't like, is paradise to me...!

A few (un)mentionables...if I never heard them again, I wouldn't be too worried...

'Dominique' - Ye Singing Nun
'Tears' - Ken Dodd (Tickling-stick wielder and notable tax-dodger...)
'Cinderella Rockerfella' - Esther & Abi Ofarim (Esther's voice has been known to frighten horses! Scares the hell out of me, too...!)

I just don't like '60's "surf rock". IMO, all of the songs sound the same and pointless.

Except for "Good Viberations" which has a "psychedelic" feel.

I do like Tommy Roe's Sheila-I used to sing it to my cat but replaced "Sheila" with "Sheena" (her name). Now Dizzy was a bit...well....you know. I remember when that song came out and one of my sisters played that song over and over and over again. I can't remember if it was my mother or father who said, "That song is making me dizzy." To this day, I can't hear that song without hearing those words. lol

I LOVE the Beach Boys....Best song was "Don't Worry Baby" because the REAL Beach Boy Brian Wilson sang it and not that self-absorbed moron, Mike Love >:( Only ones that I don't care for were Fun, Fun, Fun and I Get Around. As for other bad songs of the 50's-60's....I can't stand Black Is Black or Down In The Boondocks...a song I have a love/hate relationship with would be "They're Coming To Take Me Away" from 1966 ::)

Tommy Roe's 'Sheila' intro is a good one. Love it.

The Beach Boys - I really can't decide. I like some of their hits (Fun fun fun, Help me Rhonda . . .) but Good Vibrations does my head in (probably the wobbly sound). Sorry Hoogbest, I need a personality transplant as well.  ;)

'Cinderella Rockafeller' - That's a tough song to listen to all the way through.

Worst songs award IMO goes to . . .

'You were made for me'/'If you've gotta make a fool of somebody' - Freddie and The Dreamers
'Bridget the midget'/'Jeremiah Peabody's poly unsaturated quick disolving fast acting pleasant tasting green and purple pills' - Ray Stevens
'Norman' - Sue Thompson
''Honey' - Bobby Goldsboro
'Aquarius' - Paul Jones

I must disagree. Great pop work in "To Sir With Love" by Lulu. Very mod. I love it. When I want some cheese in my life, I like to hear "These Boots are made for walking".

If you've never heard it before here are the lyrics...

(You`re) Having My Baby - Paul Anka & Odia Coates (1974)

Having my baby
What a lovely way of
Saying how much you love me
Having my baby
What a lovely way of saying
What you`re thinking of me

I can see it, face is glowing
I can see in your eyes
I`m happy you know it

That you`re having my baby
You`re the woman I love
And I love what it`s doing to ya
Having my baby
You`re a woman in love
And I love what`s going through ya

The need inside you, I see it showing
Whoa, the seed inside you
Baby, do you feel it growing
Are you happy you know it

That you`re having my baby
I`m a woman in love
And I love what it`s doing to me
Having my baby
I`m a woman in love
And I love what`s going through me

Didn`t have to keep it
Wouldn't put you throught it
You could have swept it from your life
But you wouldn`t do it
No, you wouldn`t do it

Now, you`re having my baby
I`m a woman in love
And I love what it`s doing to me
Having my baby
I`m a woman in love
And I love what`s going through me

Having my baby (having my baby)
What a lovely way of
Saying how much you love me
Having my baby (having my baby)

??? ::)

There was a song by the Chrystals that was remade, for whatever reason, by Hole,
y'know, Courtney Love.  I was surprised that it was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole
King who must be pretty much mortified by it now. ???

HE HIT ME (IT FELT LIKE A KISS)
(Gerry Goffin / Carole King)
The Crystals

He hit me
And it felt like a kiss.
He hit me
But it didn't hurt me.

He couldn't stand to hear me say
That I'd been with someone new,
And when I told him I had been untrue

He hit me
And it felt like a kiss.
He hit me
And I knew he loved me.

If he didn't care for me
I could have never made him mad
But he hit me,
And I was glad.

(instrumental break)

Yes, he hit me
And it felt like a kiss.
He hit me
And I knew I loved him.
And then he took me in his arms
With all the tenderness there is,
And when he kissed me,
He made me his.

The Chuck Berry song "My Ding-a-Ling" was mentioned here, but I thought I should metnion that that's from 1972. As for The Crystals' song "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)," I read that it was never released to the public. It was played once on the radio in 1963 and the radio station that played it got many angry phone calls due to the song, so its planned release was cancelled.

Woops, " One man's garbage is another man's treasure", my garbage is...

All of Elvis Presley's songs from in the 60's and later sucked. (not in the 50's when he was cool)

Pat Boone's ripped off rock n roll songs in the 50's were the worst of all.

All songs that "taught" you a new dance; the "Swim"..."Tighten-up"... the "Twist"...the "Mouse"...'Do the Pony" "Mash Potato's" I hated them all because I was to "cool" to be bothered or cared...or maybe it's because I have two left feet and a learning disability!!!

These are only the tip of my garbage pile, there are hundreds from the 50's to the present, to long to list.

I think it's a safe bet that if they recorded any songs between 1959 and 1965, and their first name is "Bobby," they're going to suck. Bobby Vee, Bobby Vinton, Bobby Goldsboro, and Bobby Rydell. Ugh!

I like Bobby Darin and the Bobby Fuller Four, though.

Last week on XM I heard a really bad song by Pat Boone from the mid-60's. It was called "Wish You Were Here," and the lyrics were from the point of view of a soldier in a foxhole in Vietnam, basically saying how "all you dammed hippies burning your draft cards and growing your hair long are a bunch of cowards and that you should be thankful that I'm out here fighting for your freedom..." Yes, Pat, I am eternally grateful to you for your courageous service to your country, and I admire you for having the guts to put your life at risk by bravely stepping into that recording studio.  You know, we're really short on troops in Iraq right now, go on Pat, put your money where your mouth is.  A**hole.  >:( >:( >:(

Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter - Herman's Hermits
Ferry Cross The Mersey - Gerry And The Pacemakers
Have I The Right - Honeycombs
Jean - Oliver

There were lots of corny songs in the early '60s.

These are more cheesy than the worst:

Johnny Angel - Shelley Fabares
Three Coins In The Fountain - Four Aces/Frank Sinatra (too schmaltzy)
Moonlight Bay - Doris Day
Tammy - Debbie Reynolds
Ballad Of The Green Berets
Little Things Mean A Lot - Kitty Kallen (ugh)
Teen Angel - Mark Dinning
I Can't Get Next To You - Temptations
Dance To The Music - Sly And The Family Stone
Toys - A Lover's Concerto
Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter - Herman's Hermits
Ferry Cross The Mersey - Gerry And The Pacemakers
Have I The Right - Honeycombs
Jean - Oliver

haha, I had forgotten about 'ferry cross..' and the 'lovely daughter' song. Those are definitely annoying. I actually like 'Johnny Angel' though, but I have to admit it's not a song I can listen to on repeat.

Lucky we're seperated by a computer screen and about ten thousand miles of ocean...or else I'd have shot you on the spot (just kidding  :))

Not liking 'Like A Rolling Stone' should be punishable by having to listen to a marathon of Bobby Vee, Barry Manilow and the like...then you'll really know what suffering is!

I just think the song is overrated and nothing brilliant , in my opinion, even though I know a lot of people think differently. Dylan is just one of those either you hate him or love him people.... I never was much of a fan of Dylan's. I was more into Donovan.

EVERYTHING, not anything, by Tommy James and The Shondells. (And any other falsetto voiced "men") From the 1970's / '80's, this would ESPECIALLY include The Bee Gees.

Unchained Melody wouldn't be so annoying if it wasn't played so much in the last 15 years or so.

This is hard since most of the songs in the 50's and 60's were horrible......But I'd have to say I can't stand The Beatles so yeah anything by them is the worst.

It was The Beatles that set a new trend in song writing, it was they that performed their own songs where before it was the writer then perfomer partnership.
