Subject: More 60's Hits To Choose From

I choose "Don't Worry Baby"

I like them all. But, I'll choose Love is Blue b/c I loved this melody since I was a little girl and I know it will go unnotice by other posters.

It is a toss-up between Come Together and Bus Stop.

I chose "Love Is Blue" (Paul Mauriat), followed by "Come Together" (The Beatles).  :)

'Everything That Touches You' - Association...

(...I'm sure Mark knew I was gonna choose that...!!)

Interesting note about 'Love Is Blue' - it was actually a song that was entered for the much-maligned Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 (the year that us Brits had our first win...!!) 'Love Is Blue' (which came fourth)was a big hit in Europe and somehow managed to repeat its success in the US - something that a lot of Eurovision songs don't achieve...

I think "Love Is Blue" was Luxembourg's submission to the 1963 Eurovision Song contest.

And another well known Eurovision song...
1974's Eres Tu (Touch the Wind) by Mocedades was Eurovision's 2nd place song in 1973.

(and didn't ABBA win with Waterloo??)

Yep, in 1974 zcrito  ;)

My vote 'Walk Away Renee' closely followed by 'Come Together' :)

Loooks like it's down to

Don't Worry Baby by The Beach Boys-1964
Everything That Touches You by The Association-1968
Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat & His Orchestra-1968
Walk Away Renee by Left Bank-1966
Light My Fire by The Doors-1967

I went with
Everything That Touches You by The Association-1968
:)

No, definitely 1967 zcrito...full low down here

Scroll your way down past the lush picture sleeves and you'll find the final voting tally...(Blimey! We creamed 'em all that year...good ol' Sandie...!!)

The singer, Vicky, did go on to win the contest for Luxembourg in 1972 with 'Apres Toi' - re-hashed in English as 'Come What May'...

Strangely, she wasn't actually from Luxembourg - I think she was born in Greece...

I should have known there'd be a Web page somewhere listing all the entries and number of votes.
You Europeans and your silly song contests. So much love and harmony in Europe.
You're lucky the U.S. can't enter. "MacArthur Park" would have "kicked some butt" in '67 !  ;D

The tip of a very large iceberg, I assure you...there are people out there who treat it as a minor obsession - I just hope I never get accosted by one...!!

I kid you not - I could take you to any major record store in London and show you rack upon rack of Eurovision compilation CDs...my guess is it's even worse on mainland Europe...

Fine, fine song...but why, oh why did someone give it to Richard Harris...?!! Talk about first degree murder...!!

I picked Love Is Blue (there's something so haunting about it!) followed by Bus Stop , which is just a cute song.

I heard "Love Is Blue" on the radio twice this week and I probably haven't heard it in over 10 years before that. It must be making a comeback of sorts.

"Walk Away Renee" by The Left Bank does it for me. Probably because I used to go to a bar in Linderhurst,L.I.,N.Y., with the same name. But, it's always been of my favorites.
