Cream. Hello, you had Eric, Ginger, and Jack who collaborated in this phat band after being in the Yardbirds. They were tight. "Strange Brew" must I say more?
The Doors, while I love them and admire the talents of the collective, was primarily focused on Jim Morrison, IMHO. Together they were hot, but separately not too many cared.
