Subject: Motown Groups/Artists of the 60's

Written By: eightiesfan on 01/11/05 at 12:27 pm

A lot of the best American groups that had to compete with The Beatles and the British Invasion came out of a little studio in Detroit.
I vote for the Supremes and the Temptations - I like The Four Tops as well, but I wasn't sure if they were a Motown group or not.

Quite honestly, there wasn't any competition. You were either from the Motown Sound or the British Invasion sound. If you didn't match, a group or artist had to be talented enough to carve its own niche.

Stevie and Smokey, btw.

Certainly were - and that's who I go for, tho' you'd be hard pressed to find any duff Motown acts from that 'golden period'...

A lot of great talent on this list. My first choice is the Temps-without a doubt. I had trouble with my second choice but I finally went with the Supremes.

Can you help me?

I like a lot the motown music about '60 and I was looking for a female band, but I can't...
The name is like Salvadores or Salvadors, but on internet I found nothing.
They sing like supremes, or Little Eva.
If you can help me.
Thanx.
