Subject: From the catacombs of breakup songs...

Written By: DreamaJurnee on 04/09/05 at 6:24 pm

Hey everyone, how goes it?  I'm as usual looking for another song and I believe this one was made in the 60s, i always hear it on the oldies station. It goes:

" My smile is my makeup I wear since my breakup with you....So baby take a good look at my face...now you'll see my smile looks outta place...baby you look closer its easy to trace, the tracks of my tears, baby..." something like that. Any idea on who does this?
Thanks :o

It was also a hit for Linda Ronstadt in the mid 70's

'It's My Party'! Sort of a perky breakup song.  :D

In the 70's it was 'One is the Lonliest Number'

In the 80's it was 'I'm Already Gone!'

Recently: 'Since You've Been Gone!'

People seem to be getting happier about breaking up! ;D

"Tracks Of My Tears" was also a solo hit for "Shirl" in Australia in the mid-70s

Shirl was Graeme 'Shirley' Strachan, lead singer of Skyhooks  :)

RIP Shirl.  Not too many years ago he crashed a helicopter into a mountain not far from where I live  :( :( :(

it may not be considered a break up song per se.... but recently i found myself listening to For No One by the Beatles.

it's not an oldie, but "The Manhattans" song "Kiss and Say Goodbye" is a song about a breakup of an adult affair...sad story lyrics...great song.

"The Four Seasons" were my tormentors with breakup songs, their breakup songs paralleled my teenage love life at the same times when they released them, like they knew me personally, "Dawn" "Good Bye Girl" and "Bye Bye Baby".
