Subject: TV's favorite engineer beams up for good...

Written By: Doc Brown on 07/20/05 at 10:36 pm

CNN just announced that veteran character actor James Doohan, whom Trekkies everywhere knew as their beloved "Scotty", passed away from Alzheimer's complications early this morning. Scotty was 85, having appeared in all three seasons of the original Trek series, and reprised his role in seven Trek movies from 1979 to 1994. Most fans regard him as being the most popular character on the series, except maybe for Mr. Spock. Ironically, the line most associated with him, "Beam me up, Scotty.", was never used on television, and no one said it in the movie series until 1987. No doubt among both 60's and 80's generation Trek fans, he'll be terribly missed.

Your Pal,
Doc
