Subject: Saturday morning cartoon on CBS "The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Hour"

Written By: Tony20fan4ever on 07/31/05 at 6:46 pm

Anyone here remember "The Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Show"..it was part of the CBS Saturday Morning lineup in the mid or late 1960's...

Any cartoon with the Roadrunner makes me die laughing...

Has anyone wondered why the Coyote never catches the thing..or never has the sense to GIVE UP?

Especially when Wile E. always ends up falling from a cliff somewhere...or blows himself up...or gets run over...or gets clobbered in a multitude of other ways?

Sorta like nowadays with Sonic The Hedgehog vs Dr. Robotnik(Dr.Eggman)...in the cartoon at least..

I remember bits of it in the late 60's, I never liked the road runner as much as bugs bunny, I guess it was the lack of talking :)

The Road Runner cartoons were, still are, funny...though I tend to watch them once in a while...  :D  ;D

Road Runner, along with Bugs and the rest of the Looney Tunes, actually were around longer...

The first Road Runner cartoon debut was 1949's "Fast & The Furry-ous"  :D

True but I was refering to the specific show title...which changed later to the Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show among other names ;)

Does anyone remember the lyrics to the theme that Bugs and Daffy sing together.....all I know is 'on with the show this is it'..I think that theme is the best cartoon show opening,ever...
And does anyone remember the characters marching across the stage..I think Speedy Gonzales leads them while if I remember correctly,Foghorn Leghorn brings up the rear...

Someone should make screensavers of classic cartoon intros.....Like 'The Flintstones' and the aforementioned Bugs and Daffy intro...

It went like this:

The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour.
    (curtain rises)
    "Overture, curtain, lights!
This is it. The night of nights.
No more rehearsing or nursing a part.
We know every part by heart!
    (cane flip)
    Overture, curtain, lights!
This is it. We'll hit the heights!
And oh, what heights we'll hit!
On with the show, this is it!
    (character procession)
    Tonight what heights we'll hit!
On with the show, this is it!"
"Starring the Oscar-winning rabbit, Bugs Bunny."
"And also starring my fast-feathered friend, The Road Runner!"
(Road Runner zips forward on film projector screen)
    "Beep, beep!"
"Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
Road Runner, that Coyote's after you!
Road Runner, if he catches you, you're through!
That Coyote is really a crazy clown!
When will he learn that he never can slow him down?
Poor little Road Runner never bothers anyone.
Just running down the road is his idea of having fun!"
    "Beep, beep!"
    The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour!

Remember the episodes Wile E. Coyote talked? he then introduced himself as Wile E. Coyote "Genius" and gave a business card. Didn't Wile E. do some crossover cartoons as well? I though I remembered seeing him punching a timeclock for his daily job of trying to get sheep while a sheepdog set up defense.

Even a couple where Wile E. Coyote tries to get Bugs  :D, which he did talked

Though there's one where he explains two kids about his obsession with catching the Road Runner and it's flavors in one Road Runner cartoon...
