Three rarely-heard gems from this period...

'The Time In Between'

'Blue Turns To Grey' (Shock! Cliff covers Mick n' Keef! Yet it works!)

'Good Times (Better Times)'

It's odd on how popular he was in Britain, yet it never translated to the USA.
I know he was also very popular in Hong Kong as well.

He has tried repeatedly over the years, but he just never made it.

I guess his records are played over there?

Yes, sometimes, we hear "Devil Woman" and "We don't talk anymore" from the 70's, as well as "Bachelor Boy" and "Living doll" , "The young ones' and 'Summer Holiday"

So it would be the popular of his records.

In record (singles0 sells in the UK he has out sold Elvis Presley and the Beatles

I remember once when the band Max Webster (if you've heard of them) was at the top of their popularity, they beat the Beatles in a fan's poll here in Canada. Unbelievable.
Yes, I've heard from my British friends that Cliff Richard is incredibly popular in the UK, and so is Queen.
(Queen is also popular in Canada, but not to the extent it is in the UK)

It is rather strange as to why Cliff didn't quite catch on in the States.  From 1959-1968, he charted 6 US hits, 2 of which made the Top 40 (neither one reaching the Top 20).

He did better in Canada, but as compared to his native UK, he was only "birefly" popular here.  From 1959-1968, he charted 16 hits in Canada, all of which made the Top 40 (12 of those reaching the Top 20, 3 of which made #1)
