Subject: The original King Kong

Who herte has the original King Kong? I just got it on DVD last week, it was a really good film. The ending was sad too. I can't wait to see the remake pretty soon.

"Oh no, it wasn't the airplanes. It was beauty killed the beast. "

Yep! Good film that I have seen many times; it actually frightened me when I wqas 7 or 8! There was also a 1976 remake with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lang, but this version was pale compared to the first (If you're a cinema buff, anyway)

The first is a classic, the best piece of horror ever! I watch it whenever it comes on. We plan to see the remake next week! This will be better than the '76 version because it's closer to the original.

i love the 76 one, because it's so bad it's loads of fun.

I saw King Kong Lives on cable awhile back, I see what you mean!

Yeah, I also tend to enjoy certain movies that people say are the worst

I like this review of it...

If you like Japanese monster movies and wondered what an American-made version might be like, "King Kong Lives" could be that movie. Yeah, it is pretty dumb and bad...but what else could it be? Almost more a sequel to the likes of TOHO's "King Kong Escapes," than a follow-up to the 1976 remake. From "T2" star-Linda Hamilton doing open-heart surgery on Kong to "Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo"-star Brian Kerwin finding a Queen Kong, this film has it all. Thankfully now available and preserved on DVD for all enjoy! Go Ape! :)

Whatever happened to Fay Wray?
That delicate, satin-draped frame?
As it clung to her thigh
How I started to cry

Sadly, Wray passed away last year.

I only ever saw the '76 remake.  I wonder if they will ever do a live action "Donkey Kong"  ;D

I remember seeing the original King Kong on TV when I was a kid, and despite the limitations of the special effects it was a geniunely scary movie.

I have seen the original King Kong on the cinema screen and viewiing it this way gave it an extra propective than just viewing on a TV.

I remember watching it on TV about 30 years ago.  At the time it seemed really scary.  I remember a friend of mine had a nightmare about it.  She woke her parents up shouting "he's falling, he's falling"

There is one censored scene when KK treads on men/captors during the capture sequence.
