Danny Williams, who died on December 6 aged 63, recorded what many regard as the definitive version of Moon River, the ballad which became a Christmas hit and spent 19 weeks at No 1 in the British charts in 1961.

Danny Williams?
Now that's strange. Not to be confused with Andy Williams, who got his first big break, and his theme song, with "Moon River" too.
(He also did the songs Days of Wine and Roses & Can't Get Used to Losing You and it appears is still alive and performing in Branson, Missouri)

Very sad...one of the breed who found fame the 'traditional' hard way...
He really should have been marketed more as a home-grown (even tho' we wasn't) Johnny Mathis, the vocal style is very similar...
And, good though Andy's version is (along with many others), there is no denying that Danny's version of 'Moon River' is hard to beat...RIP...
