"Unchained Melody" has been recorded many times through the years. Which version of it is your favorite?

The Righteous Brothers' original version and LeAnn Rimes' cover are both the best I've ever heard.

There's only one for me, and that's the original Righteous Brothers version.
btw: I know Leo Sayer did a version of the song in 1986 which probably needs mentioning. It's not my cup of tea, however. :P

I voted Vito and the Salutations and June Valli. They're slightly more upbeat than the usual arrangement.

I love the Righteous Brothers version, adn the Leo Sayer version, but just to be different, I voted for the Robson and Jerome version. I thought they did a good job with it :)

I chose Al Hibbler's version...fine voice that man had...
And as an out-and-out dose of madness, try Vito & the Salutations' version, or the version by Peter Sellers & Spike Milligan (which remained unreleased until 1990)...
Paul McCartney owns the publishing rights to this song...and judging by the amount of sales it's clocked up, I bet he's very happy!

I love the Righteous Brothers version best, followed by Elvis. Also love a version not in the list - by Cliff Richard in about 1968 or 69.

Wow thats funny - he must have done it twice - I pulled out my old cassette (imaginatively titled Cliff in 68) and its definately recorded in 1968. I will have a listen to the 61 version and see if they are exactly the same - or if they are two different styles or versions. The 68 version is very slow and sweet.

1965 - Righteous Brothers
The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I saw that Leanne Rimes had recorded it :(

The only version I know well is the Righteous Brothers' 1965 hit, which was re-popularized 25 years later due to inclusion in the movie "Ghost" (and it was re-recorded that same year, 1990, but I'm not sure if I've heard that one). So my vote would be for "1965 ~ Righteous Brothers."
