Subject: Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66?

Anybody else like these guys? In retrospect, they were in the "world music" category before some record executive coined the term! Their cover of "Fool on the Hill" is a must; the Beatles meet Burt Bacharach.  8)

Yes. Yes I do. They have that kind of pre-psychedelic "swingin' 60's" vibe to them, which I'm so fond of. (My own favorite Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 song is their cover of "The Look of Love.")  For some reason, when I think of this group it makes me think of the music that Red and Kitty Foreman would play in the background while they're having a barbecue or a fondue party. That, or Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass.  ;)

Quoting Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In: "I got a new horn for my car. It's called Herb Alpert."  :D

The music of H.A. and the Tijuana Brass has popped up in many tv ads in recent years. Mood music at its finest, IMO. "Taste of Honey" is a real toe-tapper.

Very much so. Their stuff is great.

Sergio Mendes and Brazil '66 were great.  I am a bit more partial to MEides' 80's stuff like "Never Gonna Get You Go" and my all-time favourite "Olympia" :)

I love them. Lately, I've been listening to their cover of 'Wichita Lineman' on repeat. That and 'Agua de beber'
