Subject: Freddie Garrity R.I.P.

Written By: Philip Eno on 05/20/06 at 6:09 am

Just announced on the radio that Freddie Garrity, that is the Freddie from the 60s group Freddie & The Dreamers has died. He with his group had a succession of hits, including If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody, I'm Telling You Now and You Were Made For Me, with several others, but all failing to reach number one.

Very sad...although he hadn't been in the best of health for some time...

Although never what you'd call a cutting-edge group from the British Invasion, Fred certainly was a character...what you saw of him onstage was what you got in real life...

And although they never managed to climb to the top in Britain, they did manage it in America with 'I'm Telling You Now'...

One of my first memories as a young boy is watching Freddie and the Dreamers on a black and white television.
