Subject: Stingray!

Written By: La Roche on 11/23/06 at 4:57 pm

Stingray.. stingray.. duh du nah nah nah nah.!!!

Does anybody else remember this GREAT show!

It was kinda like Thunderbirds, except all to do with submarines and under-water stuff.. and had a hot chick that couldn't talk properly - Aqua Marina.
I also believe that Stingray was featured on MST3K.

So was anybody else fixated on the adventures that these brave men had, carrying out the work of WASP - World Aquanaut Security Patrol?

Yes indeed, it was a part of my childhood, in fact Gerry Anderson ruled my television viewing.

Excellent, I loved this show. Stingray, Thunderbirds and Joe 90 pretty much ruled my childhood. As kids we would all pretend to be the different people in the shows.

As soon as I read the title of this thread I had that tune in my head!

We used to watch them all.  Both my brothers had Joe 90 mugs and one had some sort of dressing up kit for Joe 90 but I can't remember what was in it apart from the glasses.

.. a wig with some of the worst hair ever possible?

I forgot Captain Scarlet, I think he requires a whole topic to himself.

THIS IS THE VOICE OF THE MYSTERONS, WE KNOW YOU CAN HEAR US EARTHMEN!

From a listening a few years back, we established it was not Matt Munro.

After a quick search:

Aqua Maria was sung by Guy Miller. He was quite a popular band singer at the start of the 60's. The Tornadoes released a cover version as well.

I missed the boat on the 90's rerun of that show. Too bad. I would have enjoyed seeing Captain Scarlett again. However, I did get to see Clutch Cargo on "Ha/ The Comedy Channel" in the early 90's when the network gave it a brief revival.

I was talking about it being repeated in the UK.  I guess, since I was posting comments to others also from the Uk and most long-term members here know I'm from the UK I forget to add that most of the time!  Maybe it was repeated in the US as well?

Never heard of Clutch Cargo - was that a SuperMarionation thing as well?

Clutch Cargo wasn't a marionette. He was a cartoon with a human mouth superimposed on his face. He would talk through this mouth. Cool and weird at the same time. Here's a clip.
