Subject: Pre-Rock & Roll music used in commercials

Written By: yelimsexa on 01/29/10 at 9:18 am

One way you sometimes make older people a bit grumpy is stating that a particular song is associated with a commercial. For instance, for many years in the '90s, Chips Ahoy ads used Benny Goodman's Sing, Sing Sing and many people who came of age during that era would associate it with that brand. I'm sure other big band era hits (I know one that Master Card used one a few years back though I can't recall) were used by commercial advertisers. Anyone can think of other examples?

Numerous commercials for United Airlines have used George Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue.
