Well, I could pick every Beatles song but I went with California Dreamin' and Five O'Clock World along with these 3:

Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - Mel Carter

Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

Ferry Cross the Mersey - Gerry and the Pacemakers  Something about the melody of this song and his voice just gets to me.

I thought Downtown was more around late 64 to early 65 (so might show in the 1964 charts). I think it may have won a Grammy in 1964. :-\\

I Know A Place was a full hit in 1965 though...

Yes, you are right, recorded on 16th October 1964, released in the UK in November 1964, and was released in the USA in early 1965.
