What? No "Crystal Blue Persuasion" from Tommy James & Shondells? That would've been my first choice.

As for Sly & The Family Stone, I would've chosen "Everyday People", but that ain't on the list either. :-\\ But the song you did list is fine.

I cannot decide which ones to vote for at the moment. :-\\

Yes, I have limited the song listings because it can take forever if I were to list all the songs from just one particular year.

This was the 1st year I really started listening to pop music. My faves from 1969 are:

Beatles - Here comes the sun
B.J. Thomas-Raindrops keep falling on my head
Fifth Dimension -Aquarius/let the sunshine in
Beatles - Something

From your list, B.J. Thomas-Raindrops keep falling on my head is my favorite

I've decided to always pick 5 from your list and then list my own 'other' favourites...

The 5 from your list are:

Sugar, Sugar----The Archies
The Boxer----Simon and Garfunkel
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother----The Hollies
I Can Hear Music----The Beach Boys
Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head----B.J. Thomas

My actual top 10 list from that year would be: Not very cool...but I don't care... :P  ;)

Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In - The 5th Dimension
First of May - The Bee Gees
Goodbye - Mary Hopkin
He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - The Hollies
Hooked On A Feeling - B.J. Thomas
I Started a Joke - The Bee Gees
Melting Pot - Blue Mink
Something/Come Together - The Beatles
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - Crosby, Stills & Nash (my fabourite for that year)
Sugar, Sugar - The Archies

I understand. And it can get tedious. Especially when there are lots of songs that came out in a particular year (as there often are).

It's one of the iconic songs of that era...

Because I was only 9 at that time (and that rhyme's)....I stil;l liked a lot of the 'bubble gum' type songs like...Indian Giver, Sugar Sugar etc.  :)

Oh ....and I accidentally left out David Bowies - Space Oddity and The Hollies - I'm Sorry Suzanne. I really liked those songs...

It was one of those late 60's 'peace movement' ..... racial integration songs.  The chorus may be familiar to you... :-\\

I assumed that they were an American band....but the were British and the song was a number 3 hit in the UK. Australia tended to get music from both UK and North America. I guess we were lucky...

They sounded like an American band. Usually in Canada we got to hear lots of bands from the UK...but I guess not this one.
