Which fashion from these eras before the 1900s would you like to have worn?

I would've loved to wear a black coat with top hat and tie.

Great in the Mediterranean climate, not so good up here in New England winters!
:o

There was the New Romantic style in the eighties, which favored costuming from earlier eras...

Now, this was cool for going to The Blitz with your mates, but out in the podunk suburbs, it just didn't work.  I tried.

See, when they put on dog, they looked like dandies from a golden age.  When I put on dog, I looked like a horrible little pimp.

My favorite pre-20th century periods for fashion are:

16th Century

I find the fashion of this period to be very fairy tale-esque, and I like that.

18th Century

http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx256/Mathew_2010/MadameDePompadour_zps54455943.jpg

I like the softer fashion styles of the mid and late 18th century, such as that worn by Madame De Pompadour in the picture above. I dislike the gaudy Marie Antoinette-esque fashions of the late 18th century, though.

Early 19th Century ("Regency Era")

I like early 19th century fashion for its simple yet elegant aesthetic.

I've always found codpices to be an underappreciated garment. Not that I need one...

I do like those early 19th century dresses. They sort of remind of the dresses worn during the 1910s (100 years later!).

My favorite fashion before the 1900's would definitely be the Regency era.  :)

Yeah, empire waistlines were in style in the early 1800s as well as the 1910s. The styles of the 1800s took inspiration from ancient Greek clothing.
