Subject: 1940s furniture & car design

Written By: cowboy on 02/02/19 at 10:34 am

I grew up on the classic 1940s and 50s Tom and Jerry shorts and I've loved those 1940s-era furniture and interior designs, seen there. In some episodues like The Million Dollar Cat we even see the interior of a 1940s car. Is it me or the 40s are underrated when it comes to everything? These days Mid century modern furniture from the 50s has seen a revival, but I prefer the softer, rounder style of the late 30s and the 40s. Same for cars, the 50s tailfin era is overrated. While during the war car output was stopped, cars were relaunched in America right after the war. But some already looked cool in the late 30s. I like 1938-1955 era in cars. The 1949-1955 Chevy's imo looked better than the 1958-1959 and the 60s ones.

As far as cars I drove a Volvo 544 that looked like an old Chevy hot rod. I liked the Packards those cars were tough!

I dig mid century furniture. There’s a hotel here in Phoenix that caters to that time frame, it’s awesome.
