Subject: Birthday cake dolls: 1950s, 1960s

Written By: violet_shy on 07/11/21 at 11:40 pm

Did anybody's mom have these dolls, they're actually hard plastic sleepy eye dolls. But I call them birthday cake dolls because people use to decorate cakes with these dolls in the 50s, and 60s. Please don't ask how I know this I just don't know. Lol! I asked my mother and she said I'm absolutely correct!  :o

There are also these cake dolls, baked into Mardi Gras King Cakes in new Orleans. It's good luck if you get the piece with the doll in it!

Those are duchess dolls. They were popular in the 40s-60s. Some are worth quite a bit.

The cake dolls were small (like the one that Voiceofthe70s posted).

We bought and sold the same one as the one on the right (the Irish Lass) years ago. Can't remember what we bought it for and what we sold it for. (It was probably in a lot of dolls).
