Subject: Plagarized/Ripoff Parodies

Written By: lpg_unit on 03/13/07 at 8:46 pm

OK, so I logged on to AmIRight recently, and I noticed a knocked-off version of Weird Al's White And Nerdy called "Black and Dirty". The lyrics are almost identical to Alfred's, so it's obvious that this should be deleted. Here's the URL:

http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/weirdalyankovich0.shtml

Please delete this thing, Monsieur Chucky, and if you fellow parodists have some other examples of content that shouldn't be posted at AmIRight, post it here...

yeah, I hate it when people try to submit parodies that they didn't write. By the way, we already have a thread for plagairized/ripped off parodies in the "song parodies" forum: http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?topic=632.0 ...I have already reported at least one there, and it got taken care of right away. :)

Good thing Monsieur Chucky removed this so-called parody - if there are any of those guys who try to post such lame knockoffs or non-parodies, we'll remove it...

TSB is ripping off Weird Al lyrics for some reason. Please remove, and give the kid a warning.

I dunno, This kid never seems to learn, no matter how 'nice' you try to be to him.

Red Ant posted the original source in his comment to the parody. . .

I honestly think plagiary is being done for attention. . .but why oh why steal someone else's work???

Our buddy TSB has sent yet ANOTHER medley plagarism.

This time its a collection of Michael Jackson songs that are ENTIRELY word-for-word postings mashed up into a medley:

http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/michaeljackson7.shtml

Apparently, TSB has been warned before about making plagarised material into medleys (see here):

http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/weirdalyankovic41.shtml

Please remove and give this dude a warning. Its not fair that people are working hard writing original material and TSB is just blatantly plagarising.

Thank you very much.

YET AGAIN we have ANOTHER medley plaigarism from TSB.

This time its a collection of Veggie Tales songs slammed together into a medley without a single word being changed in the OS's:

http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/veggietales10.shtml

TSB is clearly not getting the message that plagarism is not tolerated. He should be banned. Period.

i just wanted to say, i realize the average person knows better and that it's ok to deal with plagiarism like you do, but there are people that don't know they are really just ripping off a parody.

i would say for instance, that most people with higher asd know better, but some people really think they've written a clever parody, and not actually changed much. don't hate peope that just can't figure out they're doing this? they might not be trolls. if you want to ban them, well, i'm not saying don't.

Well on the parody guidelines page it says:

"Only submit songs YOU PERSONALLY HAVE WRITTEN.
I don't want to copy songs from people without their knowledge. People seem to be a little unclear on this concept, since I end up removing about two or three parodies every week. IF YOU DIDN'T WRITE THE SONG YOURSELF, DON'T SUBMIT IT"

So you are given plenty of warning not to submit content that isn't yours. If people choose to disregard that message and continually post stuff that isn't theirs, then it is right that action is taken.
