Subject: Top 100 Submittors to amIright, not counting misheard lyrics & parodies

Written By: ChuckyG on 10/05/07 at 3:02 pm

this is of course a rough estimate, and only counts same entries by people who use the same name on every section they submit too.  I'll be adding individual section breakdowns to each sections main index as I find the time.

no thanks needed... it's your own contributions to the site that earn you a place on that list.

here is an up to date list, along with each section that people are in the top ten for.

Interesting list. 8) Sadly, I see that I didn't make the list; I guess I hadn't submitted as much stuff as I thought I had. However, in the 63rd position, I notice that the submitter's name is not listed; I didn't think you could leave the name field blank when you submitted something.

probably stuff that didn't require a name at one time.  When I first started with the newer sections, I didn't always require a name.  I thought I coded it to ignore those, but maybe there's a space in there, not just blank.

if you're not there, you haven't submitted 50 approved items.  50 is a pretty big number for some sections, maybe not so much for others.

yes...50 is quite a lot. I've submitted stuff to lots of the sections myself (including the sections that I currently approve entries for)...but then there's lots of sections on the site.

Not requiring a name in some sections? That's odd. Yes, I've noticed some people use various symbols as their names (including a guy some years ago who called himself "ellipsis" and used "..." as his name); maybe those were all treated as a whole, i dunno.

Chuck, what's up with the "Proposed Duets" stats?

Instead of listing the top contributors at the bottom, it lists a bunch of random numbers at the bottom, with 1 submission each. I know that's not the least bit true.

I made some changes to how that script works today. I didn't check every section, so it figures I broke on or two.  I'll have to fix it.

Is there any way that you can have a top-10 contributors for bands? Such as how many people used alierations, duets, and parodies by that artist?

You mean who has submitted the most information about Aerosmith?  I'm pretty certain I can do that. I'd probably have to set some sort of minimum threshold though, since some performers only have a few items on the site.  So a group like Aerosmith, which probably has a few hundred items on the site, we could maybe see the top five (top ten seems a bit much) people who have submitted them for something.

Or maybe I should set it by a minimum number of items for a person.  Maybe list out all the people who have submitted five or more entries about Aerosmith site-wide on the Aerosmith page.

I'd have to make sure I get the parodies and recordings in there too.

The script that does all these stats, is the same one used to build the artist pages, so I could either put the stats on the artist summary pages, or along side the top tens on the contributor pages.  Maybe on the artist summary page, the people who submitted the most to those pages, and then on the contributor pages, the top five or ten groups that contributor tends to favor in their submissions.
