What does it mean when the gif you input using the codes (img, /img) comes up with just an X? Does that mean the link you've typed is incorrect, or that the picture can't be broadcast on this messageboard for some reason?

Some places do not allow hot links. If you try and link to an image, they will not allow it to show.
If you have a place which allows you to link a photo, try using the following code:
<img src = " " >
where in the "" you add your link, such as www.someplace.com/myimage/picture.gif
The above is not a real link so do not click on it. It is just an example.
