Subject: What's With The Penguins?

I'm sorry, but I have been out here for awhile, and I have to ask:
What's with the penguins?
I started out as Pingu, went to Pengo, Bud Ice Penguin, and now I'm Nestor.
How often do these change? Is there a chance we could possibly pick which one we want to reach?
I like to be educated, and right now, I feel rather dense.

I don't know that I've been told why the penguin thing started. An earlier incarnation of these boards had the various levels (i.e. number of posts) as different species of penguin (macaroni, rockhopper etc.) with Chucky being the only Emperor penguin.
When this version of the board started the level were changed to different penguin characters. There is a list around somewhere of the various names but there is no choice as to which one you get.

1,000 = Tuxedo Sam
5,000 = Badtz Maru
10,000 = Feathers McGraw
15,000 = Chilly Willy
25,000 = Opus

Yep...and there are some levels below 1,000.
On the old board (which ended in April 2004), the highest level that a typical user could reach was "Royal Penguin", at 500. Now we got a lot more variety, which I think is cool. :)
So I guess there isn't a position beyond opus... :-\\

Yeah. Pablo.
In the Disney film, "The Three Caballeros", there's a story about Pablo, the Penguin. He's trying to reach the Tropics, and he carries a potbellied Franklin stove with him.
