The author is Cindylovesmusic, and the heading is:

URGENT MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION!

This is nothing more than a porn spam, sent to various moderators.
I was hit with it myself.

Be careful, and report it to Chucky, as I have.

I'm not sure if the messages have been deleted from people inboxes but the person has been banned and all the posts in the main forums have gone.

they sent about 800 or so PMs.  I've removed them all, added the terms he used in the censored word list (so all his image links will break if he tries again) and banned the email.

I've complained about the poor choice of options for dealing with PMs before to the people who write the software package, but they didn't seem too eager to deal with it.

I got it too.  I had no clue what was up so unfortunately I did open it.  Took me about 1 second to close it back.  Thank God my kids weren't home.

I must've been a victim; when I logged on just a few minutes ago it said I had one new message...but there wasn't a new message there. So now my inbox has a hanging total.

the count will probably only get fixed when you send/receive a few personal messages.  I'm going to try resetting stats, and see if that helps it

can't tell now... I ran the cleanup tools, and it wipes the karmalog clean (didn't know that!)... so you're secret is safe.

It was like that for me too, as I mentioned above. :-\\ So I have a discrepancy in my inbox, which will probably forever stand, even if I do clear my inbox.

Being the master coder I am <cough> <cough> I fixed the PM counts.  At least for the inbox size.  The new message thing I haven't tried fixing yet (maybe fixed already? not sure)

less likely.  Up until yesterday, the software had no limit set for the number of PMs a person could send.  Now they are limited to 20 until they obtain a new rank.

That's the smart move Chucky. karma worthy.  so can you id the responsible party in any way just from the IP addy? I've heard that can be done unless the person on the softball site where i read that was just BS'g.

Thanks to the mods for removing it.  I saw the message because I get email notifications.  Although a lot of spam is porno, porn is different from spam.  Justice Stewart side he couldn't define pornography, but he knew it when he saw it.  I can define spam and I know it when I see it!

I just hope we don't get the African scam spammers PMing us.

I changed the notification setting, so from now on, you only get a message saying you have something on the site, not the actual message that was sent.

Sorry, I deleted my account on Saturday night(in Australian time), after I got the e-mail and reported and wrote about it on the forum becuase I didn't really go on this website anymore. I got the e-mail from ChuckyG today and he explained what had happend. He sorted it out. He explained that it was a hacker getting into the personal message system. Thanks for sorting it out and replying. ;) Sorry for the inconviniece that I caused as a result of me deleting my account. :-[
