Subject: I Lost the Arcade...Any Ideas?

Written By: loki 13 on 05/23/06 at 6:23 pm

I bought a new computer and for some reason I lost most of the
arcade games. My son tried downloading Multimedia Player and Java
Applet and neither is working. I also lost the ability to listen to quizes.
all I get is a Fatal Error Warning. Anyone have any suggestions

I have Windows XP, the store did the install for me when I bought it.

hmm. you should be able to install it off the disk, or ask the store for the disk if they didn't give it to you. there's some way to just install parts of the system, but somebody more experienced than me should sound off. i know that stuff's on the disk though...

If you can play CDs and DVDs (i.e. your other audio/video devices are working fine), you might just need to download a driver to play flash games.

If they don't work then check your help and support files (Start>Help and Support>Index) and see if there is anything there of use.

Check your control panel and see if your devices are working fine.

I take it then that this is a custom computer since most computers come with an OS already installed.

I tell my son to try your suggestion. Unfortunately, everything you said went
completely over my head.I am not adept with computers. If it works I will let
you know.

what's strange is, I can play Slingo Tiles. None of the other games I try to play
will load, just Slingo Tiles.

Good news, a friend of my wife sent her an on-line greeting card. With the card,
it had a macromedia download attached to it. I downloaded the macromedia and
now I'm back in business, the arcade is accessible.
