Subject: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: Step-chan on 10/13/13 at 2:35 pm

Care Bears reference, LOL.  :D ;D

Anyway, got my game yesterday. I had to work last night, so I'll be starting my file here in a little bit.

Just a warning: There will be spoilers here and there, although most of the time it won't be story related.

Have you used the random trade feature yet? I have a Hawlucha from Japan. It levels up pretty quickly, more so than
normally traded Pokemon but I already have a flying type so I don't use it too often. I think they all seem to level up
faster than the older games. I too have just beaten the third gym, easily I might add, and My Blaziken is at Lv. 49.
I also have: Blastoise Lv. 42, Talonflame Lv. 41, Delphox Lv. 44, Pikachu Lv. 40, Simisage Lv. 38.

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: Step-chan on 10/23/13 at 10:55 am

I tested it out with 30 Pokemon last Friday(8 were Eevee, some were Helioptile and the rest were different random Pokemon I caught). Some of the more interesting trades I got are a Japanese Gible, Pikachu and Helioptile(I can Masuda Method shinies when I'm in the mood because of that). Also got Tropius, which isn't even in the dex(doesn't list a number for it) and a Noibat(I'm obviously nowhere near the end of the game, which is where they are at).

My team is actually lowered level than what yours is(I only use the Exp. Share part of the time).

Final team is planned.

Current team status is:

Braixen named Flandre
Helioptile named Momoka
Sylveon named Tewi
Wartorle named Donatello
Roselia(my shiny one) named Shia
Hawlucha named Rainbow Dash

I've beaten the 4th gym, which was a trivial one for me seeing that I picked the fire starter and have a flyer as well. About to go south to deal with a certain Power Plant issue.

Where did you encounter the shiny? I've been playing these games since there first appearance and I have yet
to encounter a shiny Pokemon in the wild.

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: Step-chan on 10/29/13 at 12:09 pm

Route 7, which strangely enough, is the main place I've had all my shiny appearances.

You see, I had two other shiny scenarios there, I got a shiny Gible from breeding. This is mainly due to the Masuda Method. I used the Japanese male Gible to bred with three other Pokemon.

I also ran into a shiny Hoppip in a horde, but due to me misjuding one to target towards the one, I accidently knocked it out.

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: loki 13 on 10/30/13 at 7:22 pm

I still haven't met a shiny. The Boy, however, just snagged a shiny Sneazel. I'll keep trying.

I don't know about this game yet, whether I like it or not. I am on my way to the eighth gym and all my
pokemon are a level 65 or better. Blaziken is a level 72.

I am playing Y now, I have X waiting in the wings. I started the game but that is as far as I got, I have the
language set in German so it takes a little longer for me to read the subtitles.  ;D

That's why I don't use the Exp. share constantly(except on B teams), I don't like being over leveled for the most part.

Both on Tuesday and today, I did some Wonder Trades. Tuesday's highlights were a Japanese Ditto(received from someone here in America who had one), a Deino, Bulbasaur, a couple of Charmander, Charmeleon, Vulpix, Eevee and Gale Wings Fletchinder.

Today wasn't as massive, but I did get a Chinchou(I haven't fished much as of yet), Pumpkaboo(which evolved obviously) and a couple of Gourgeist(at least one was from Japan).

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: loki 13 on 11/01/13 at 5:31 pm

Everything in this game seems to be faster. I had a Marowak in the day care with a Ditto. I picked up the egg,
hopped on the bike and 16 times around the Eiffel Tower and the egg hatched. I went back to get Marowak out
of day care but when I got there I received another egg. 16 more times around the Tower and another Cubone.
I repeated this process one more time. I  hatched 3 Cubones in 20 minutes, it just seems a little odd.

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: Step-chan on 11/01/13 at 11:26 pm

Try hatching with a Pokemon that has Flame Body in your party, it makes it go even faster(you kind of have to if you breeding pseudo-legendaries like Dratini and Larvitar, as they take around 10,000 steps normally. Useful for Eevee as well, as they take nearly 9,000 steps).

Also, have you tinkered with Pokemon-Amie?

I did once, I don't really get what is all about.

Raising your Pokemon's affection in Amie gives them bonuses during battle. The higher their affection rating is, the more likely positive things will happen in battle.

This includes critical hits, shaking off status problems and barely surviving attacks that would otherwise K.O. them.

These bonuses are only in game. They aren't accessible during online battles with other players or this game's battle institute and tower.

I'm currently doing a extended breeding session before the 7th gym.

Started with Smoochum(while using the Japanese Ditto to increase my chances of getting shinies), which I'm done with.

Currently on Swirlix, I actually do want a shiny of this one. It'd be nice to have a shiny of a Kalos region Pokemon.

After that I'll be breeding Adamant Buizel, Absol, Mawile and Sentret, using a foreign Chespin I got from Wonder Trade(It's the only one that has an Adamant nature that's compatible with all of them).

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: Step-chan on 11/11/13 at 10:16 pm

Well, I'm stopping on the shiny Swirlix until postgame. Ladyluck just isn't on my side as of lately.

Will be breeding the other four next.

And I'm on her good side again.

She was apparently thinking, he wants a shiny Kalos Pokemon? Well I'll give him one.

And that's how I caught a shiny Bergmite.  :D

All 8 gyms are cleared, all main routes are cleared and I'm about to go to Victory Road. I do intend to beat the main story this week, but for the moment, I'll be training up my flyers to clear the last sky battle.

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Written By: Step-chan on 11/20/13 at 5:50 pm

I've finished the main story of the game.

My fully evolved starter was the one who defeated Diantha's mega evolved Gardevoir. Normally Gardevoir could two shot her, but thanks to the possible bonuses from Pokemon Amie, my Delphox Flandre held on from the hit that would have K.O.d her otherwise.

This is the first time I've been conducted into the Hall of Fame with a shiny Pokemon on my team as well.

Found out what my third one is, thanks to someone from Woodus.

It's Duosion.

Also found out why I could only see two of your's and Loki's.

We need to be online with our 3DS's with each other at the same time at least once.

I got a Cleffa from the GTS(for something I actually had) and a Japanese timid nature Petilil from Wonder Trade.

Subject: Re: Pokemon General 2: A New Generation!

Shia - Roserade
Joan Jett - Gible*
Firia - Bergmite
Petilil* (Currently unnamed)

*These were due to Masuda Method.

Also, I do have more Pokemon from Friend Safaris with Dream World abilities fresh for breeding.

They are:
Skill Link Minccino (thanks to Zenlon from Woodus)
Drought Vulpix*
Gooey Goomy*
Rough Skin Gible*
Protean Froakie*

*All of these thanks to Wonder Trade.

I do have others as well. If you're wanting some of these or wanting me to check what else I have, let me know.

The entire Nintendo Network grinded to halt on Christmas, this is a major part of the reason why. While the Pokemon Bank was part of the cause(due to the level of people who were using it), it wasn't the only thing with heavy traffic on the Nintendo Network.

I didn't know they had that thread up. I really need to be on here more often. I can, after all, multitask inthe00s and woodus visits.

Someone compared something from Steven Universe to Alolan Exeggutor.  :D

Meowth and Marowak's Alolan forms seem... IDK, a little lazier design-wise than Exeggutor's and Sandshrew/Sandslash's. Bewear's pre-evo is cute though!

Sorry I haven't been on for a bit. (I've been getting sidetracked)

Admittedly, they are more simple alt forms(I'm personally more in the middle with them). Just have to wait and see with Persian to see how it plays out.

This is my favorite Alolan form so far(Will probably be in second place if Bellossom gets an Alolan form).

Heheh.

Also: Gamefreak... Please make Alolan forms of mons from later generations. Kanto is nice and all, but more generational variety would be awesome.

Sun and Moon were released yesterday. Still pretty early in the game myself.

I just started playing Moon. As of right now I am not too happy with game, it is not one of my
favorites. We'll see how it goes.

The early game is pretty slow in pacing(although that's more of a side effect of being more story driven than the previous games). I have, however played games that had slower starts than these.

So I am gathering, there are Captains and Kahunas instead of gym leaders and underlings and each island
is a trial instead of side task, e.g. defeating Team Rocket.

One thing I noticed about this game, more people give you things and there seems to be more useful hidden items.
When I play these games I talk to everybody, usually you get a small item like a potion or a nugget but in this game,
even early on, people are handing out 10 great balls or 10 ultra balls, a nest ball or 2, it's different.

Well, there are some mons with low catch rates in the early portions of the game.

I am finding that Toucannon has to be one of the strongest Pokemon I've used. I always used a Fearow for
the same reason but Fearow is limited. Toucannon; with flying, grass and fighting attacks, is very versatile.

Sorry for not being on for a long while.

I used Pikipek for a little while when I didn't haven't a fully developed team*, it was nice to have something with Rock Smash in the early sections. After that, I stopped using it(after it evolved into Trumbeak) until post game when I evolved it to it's final stage.

Anyway, I'm currently in the post game and am working on the Alolan dex. Have 17(if I remember right) to go before I can get the Shiny Charm.

I've had the dex finished in Alola for a little along with the Shiny Charm.

Did my first Masuda Method shiny, a Bounsweet. Named it Alena, after the character from the Dragon Quest series.

This was in part my inspiration for the name.

Bred both a shiny male and shiny female Popplio recently.

Currently working on a shiny female Cutiefly with it's hidden ability.

Still working on Cutiefly.

I've also been trying to order Pokemon related stuff online, but it keeps failing.

I've narrowed it down to browser/computer protection or my bank(far more likely to be the former, because I've ordered from the eShop on my 3DS with no problems).

Got my shiny female Cutiefly(gender because of planned nickname), actually ended up with two shinies in less than 20 minutes during this Masuda Method.

Now I'm working on a shiny female Pichu.

I tried ordering the stuff on the Pokemoncenter from my 3DS and it still didn't go through. Admittedly, using the internet on the 3DS is pretty haphazard(at least for larger sites like that one), but I'm going to my bank to see if it's something from their end that's causing the problem.

Got my shiny female Pichu last week, got the order through at that time as well.

But USPS missed me and left a final notice to either get the package(through a couple of options) or they'll send it back on the 13th. They better had at least tried a couple of times before doing that notice, because it's a bit much to expect good luck in the person being home all the time.

::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

At least it requires me to sign for it, so that's the one up side.  ;) :)
