Subject: Want to ask me (Woops!) something?

Written By: woops on 07/26/05 at 2:21 am

Feel free to ask me anything?

Please, no personal questions since I rarely speak of them. (I'm 21, single, straight, and live in the USA...all I'm saying)

But feel free to ask about my opinions on certain things, questions about my taste in entertaiment, etc.  :)

Besides Deborah Gibson's "Naked", I actually like a couple like "Don't Phunk With My Heart" from Black Eyed Peas, which I actually like a couple of their songs, and "I Predict A Riot" from The Kaiser Cheifs. And a couple I can't think of.

Error corrected: I got  a song title wrong  :-[  :)

When did you start liking Debbie Gibson so much?  How did you discover her?

Thats the first thing that comes to mind when I think of you  :)

I started listening to Deborah Gibson in the mid 1990's (from "VH1 History of Music Video: A to Z" and other specials), but was into her music (post "Electric Youth") in 1998 when I found one of her albums ("Deborah") in a used CD store and began to appreciate her music more.

Ironically, I had a crush on her during the same time when pop acts like B.S. first came around.

At one time during highschool  I was watching a video clip (during my free time)  and some of my peers thought I was watching a Jessica Simpson video for some reason.  ::)

Where did you get your nickname from?

Something I liked from reading the TV Guide list of the 50 worst tv shows. Either this or "Cop Rock"...  ::)  :P

Do you like the oldies?

Yes, I have a couple compilation CDs of songs and several artists from the  '60's like The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Supremes, and Temptations.

Talent: Both  are talented in their own way...

Though Ashley Tisdale is actually writing songs for her debut album, but have to wait to see if she could pull it off. Then again, she can't break Gibson's record of being the youngest artist to write, produce, & perform a #1 hit since she's 20 and Gibson have been writing songs & playing piano since she was a small child. Both are fans of Billy Joel, which I wonder if Ashley Tisdale has a hidden talent like playing an instrument or producing songs (which I doubt).

Both did theatre (Deb was part of a chior, which performed with Placido Domingo at the Metropolitan Opera House at one time & Tisdale sang for the White House in 1996)  and commercials before becoming famous.  Now Deborah Gibson is a successful stage actress and still release music. Have to wait to see where Ashley Tisdale might end up.  Possibly more sitcoms and movies. As for her music, have to wait and see since I can't judge the episode where she "sang" on the battle of the bands episode of 'Suite Life of Zack & Cody' since it might've been altered, now showing her vocal range, or something.

Acting: Though I've never seen Gibson in any play, but she was funny on an episode of "That 80's Show" . I've read good reviews from several plays she's been in (Grease, Beauty & The Beast, Brigadoon), which I assume that she's a good actress. There was talk of her being on a sitcom, but it never happened.  Even during her reign as teen queen she was a good actress, which in the video for "Foolish Beat" she was actually crying in one scene.

Tisdale also did theatre at a young age (Les Miz, Annie), though have said that she loves to do television and hopes to win an Emmy. On "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody", she shows great comedic timing and facial expressions for her character "Maddie", who's a sardonic candy counter clerk.  Though there's a risk of being type casting in the future sice she's a 20 year old playing a smart alec teeny bopper.  Though the show is just as dumb as any Disney Channel sitcom, she actually stands out from the rest.  Better acting than Raven Symone, cuter than Lindsay Lohan, and might be a better singer than everybody else.

Looks: Deborah Gibson

Ashley Tisdale looks like most of the young actresses today. Though not as trashy like Lindsay Lohan and B.S.  ;)  :-*
...I wouldn't mind if she does risque roles in the future  ;)  :-*

In the '80's, Debbie Gibson was cute and also one of the few singers who still look appealing in retrospect. Now she has aged greatly.  ;)  :-*

More of a statement than a question...I'm a huge DG fan and it's cool that you are as well. I'm happy to know you here even though we don't agree on everything but hey, who does, right? :)

The 50's (and '40's when they started)  :)

Saw the '70's version on Cartoon Network, and nothing beats the classics from the mid 20th century.

Same here but I also liked the late 50's to very early 60's stuff...same with Bugs Bunny :)
