*BUMP*

That's from the '80s.

It started out as a skit on the Tracey Ullman show (yeah, that Tracey Ullman - comedianne, and singer of a few 50s-sounding '80s hits, such as 1984's "They Don't Know") in 1987. The first proper episode aired on December 17th (I think), 1989, which was the Christmas special where they get Santa's Little Helper.

Q: Which is your favorite Halloween Episode and why?

(Even though it's past the "peak Simpsons era", mine would be from '98. The family goes on Jerry Springer. ;D )

My favorite has to be the Season 4 episode from '93 ("Treehouse of Horror III"), with the evil Krusty doll, the King Kong parody, and the zombie rampage. It's closely followed by the Season 5 episode from '94, where Homer sells his soul to the devil Flanders for a doughnut, the "Gremlin on the Wing" parody, and the Dracula-as-Mr. Burns skit. I genuinely liked most of them, though.

Ha, the Season 5 one was on last Thursday with our local FOX affiliate.
