How old is Debbie Gibson now?

I got into Deborah Gibson around 1997 while watching some VH1 or MTV music video marathon thing, which I remember a "Club MTV" performance of "Only In My Dreams" and video for "Shake Your Love".  I didn't get into her later material until 1999, which I bought her 1997 album "Deborah" and a cassette of "Anything Is Possible" out of curiousity.  She also appeared in VH1 several times around 1999/2000.

2.  I like "Foolish Beat"

3. She's 36, same age as Mariah Carey & Beck

I misread this as

"Why did you get into Debbie Gibson?

;D

If you adore Deborah...

...does it automatically follow-on that you detest(ed) Tiffany?

I only like her cover of "I Think We're Alone Now".

Though both are different since Deb wrote/produced her own material, played piano, and had a decent voice, though still pleasing to the ear. The only similarities was that both were teenagers. Unlike some current pop rivalry, it was all fabricated by the media.

Any other artists that you're into besides Debbie?

Why did she change her name to Deborah?

Why did she change her name to Deborah?

Deborah is her first name, it's just when she was younger she went by the nickname Debbie.  I guess when she got older, she wanted to have a more mature image, so she chose to go buy her full first name.

Actually, she didn't even like to be called "Debbie" as a teen, but her then record label Atlantic wanted her to go by that name.

From Wikipedia
In contrast to the prevalence of the name "Debbie" in her teen idol phase, she showed a preferance for "Deborah" even then, and her fans had, before the release of Naked, signalled a departure from that image by using this name to refer to her.

Also in her albums it states: "Written by Deborah Gibson".

Is she supposed to be a blonde or a brunette?

She's a natural brunette, though changed her hair color to blonde in the mid 1980's.

Have you heard Bill Hicks' comedy bit about the Hendrix-Gibson album he'd like to see?

Is it true that she did porn? ???

No, unless you count Playboy as porn.  She mostly does musical theatre and releases albums under her own label (Golden Egg).

Never heard of Hicks.

I think Playboy was done out of publicity.

He's a stand-up comedian. He doesn't exactly support Debbie, though.. but either way, it's a funny bit. If you ever get a chance, download the "Dangerous" album, it's at the beginning in his tirade against modern music.

Do you like any current popular music? I know you like Natasha Bedingfield, anybody else?

I listen to The Killers, White Stripes, selected hits from Nelly Furtado,  selected songs from "Now" compilations (up to Vol 14).  Recent material from U2 is OK.
