Subject: Ask Me Anything About Michael Jackson and Beauty Pageants
Written By: apollonia1986 on 11/02/07 at 7:52 pm
Hi Everybody!
I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson--12 years strong--and a lifelong beauty pageant participant--almost 16 years. (off and on.)
Please feel free to ask me questions on the two topics. I just beg, please don't ask anything rude about Michael Jackson.
Please feel free to ask anything else about him or beuaty pageants. ;D
NO FEAR!
I hope to get many questions!
Tiffeny AKA Apollonia1986 ;D

Hi Tiffany, Welcome and glad to see you here.
I've always had a fascination with beauty pageants even though I would never be able to be in one myself.
Are there usually guidelines as to what to wear for each segmant of the pageant?

Because I know someone will, I'll beat them to this ...

Hi Guys!
Thanks so much for the all the questions! I'll try to answer then as best I can!
@ Bookmistress:
The fashion guidelines differ from the type of pageants that you do. I am aware of three types of systems that include everyone from babies to senior citizens. There is the high glitz pageants, which you see mostly when they talk about Jonbenet Ramsey on tv where the girls wear really elaborate costumes and make up and big hairdos. (that's the system I've done the most.) then there's low glitz in which the girls wear clothing like you'd probably see in a wedding, dressy, but not adult-like. And then there's natural system. Where you don't wear make up and look age appropriate. And then there's so much other things. Like for swimsuit, some pageants insist that the outfits are age approriate and some don't mind if the girls wear 2 pieces and so on. It depends on the pageant, and the system that you're in because there's so many segements.
@ Whistledog:
That's a cute question. No Michael has never himself competed in a beaty pageant but in 1968, shortly before he and the jackson five moved to Motown Records and got discovered, they performed at the Miss Black America pageant. I think they did a James Brown song. I have it on tape somewhere. :)
@ Quirk:
My fave Michael Jackson song is "Someone Put Your Hand Out." It's an outtake from his 1991 Dangerous album and available on his "Ultimate Collection" (It can be heard during an interlude in his Live From Bucharest" concert too)
@ SiouxBoi:
My favorite album of all time is the "Bad" album. I love it. ;D Everything from it was awesome, the sound, Michael's look, everything.
@ Howard:
That's not a question. It's a comment. :o
@ Philip:
Thriller's not very scary to me now. I like it alot and just enjoy the music and dancing and costuming and all. His short film, Ghosts, is much scarier. ;D
@ Howard:
I can't compare. Michael's done so much work and I like all his work. I have 40 different MJ cds in my collection and there's only three songs out of my entire collection I dilike.
@Brigitte:
I suppose they still have pageants because girls and women like to dress up and win crowns and feel like a princess every now and then. (At least I do!) Yes, I've won several pageants. When I was little, I usually won teddy bears and little gift certificates, but now I win actual titles--because pageants are better than they were in the early 90s when I started--and huge crowns.
@Howard: I'm not sure. I assume you mean new material and not another dowdy greatest hits album. His first new album is due out Spring '08. And assuming that since Michael will be sixty in 2018, he has the potential to put out at least 3-4 new albums. (I'm ging by the 3-4 years that pass between albums) Or if he starts doing like Prince, he can pop one out every year. :)
Thanks so much for the questions and I look forward to answering more!

Does Michael and Prince have a close friendship or at least professional admiration for one another? I think Michael has named his children Prince, is that the reason?
When were you in your first pageant? What is the biggest prize you've won doing pageants? What is the most performed song (if you know) in the talent portion of the Miss USA pageant or Miss Universe pageant?

@ Philip:
Before you start digging, he's not in Ghost with Whoopi Goldberg and Demi Moore. He's in Ghosts (also known as "Michael Jackson's Ghosts") Just want to clarify that because a friend of mine bought Ghost thinking Michael was in it and was sorely upset to know she got it wrong. ::)
@ Bookmistress:
I love this question. Michael Jackson and Prince are neither bitter enimies or best buddies forever. They are however very ammicable to each other every time they meet. (Prince played his guitar very close to Michael at one of his concerts in Las Vegas last year, and Michael has admitted to liking a few of Prince's songs.)
Michael Jackson's two sons are not named after the singer Prince. Michael's grandfather on his mother's side is names Prince Albert Scruse and Michael named his sons after his grandfather because he admired the man and wanted the name to live on.
I was in my first pageant when I was five years old. It was done as a fundraiser for the school and I came in third. The biggest prize I've won so far was a 1,000 saving bond when I was 13 at a nationals pageant, and my largest crown is almost seven inches high that I won this past February.
I think the most performed song--don't quote me though--is the opera "Habernera" from the Carmen opera.
@ Belle:
Very good question! No, I'm covering two different topics. Michael Jackson is one topic and beauty pageants are the other. I just didn't want to make more than one thread. ;D And I'm not sure if Michael particularly likes pageants. :) but, Billie Jean was "more like a beauty queen from a movie scene"

Would love to see pictures of some of your crowns.
Do you have any funny stories of when you've been in pageants?
If you were to have children (or if you already DO have children) would you put them in pageants?
I think it used to be in the Miss USA pageant where when the contestants were first introduced, they made a costume that represented their state...what would your costume look like if you were a contestant in the Miss USA pageant?
Have you ever travelled very far from your home to compete in a pageant?
Can you tell that I like pageants too, especially the gowns and of course, the crowns? lol

@Howard:
I wasn't born until 1986. ;D But the strange thing is, Michael got burned on January 27,1984, which was my father's birthday. I think he was 57. (My father, not Michael. LOL)
@ Bookmistress:
I'll have to hunt down some pics of myself because I don't usually display them in my room. (My crowns are there, and tons of MJ pics. LOL. I'll post a couple pics soon!)
Well, yeah I have one from when I was about 8. I had lost to another little girl and I actually snatched the crown off her head and threw it off stage! ;D My mom almost had a fit in the audience when I did that, I did get punished for it. I saw the same girl last year and we laughed about it. So there's no hard feeling between us. 8)
I don't have children at the moment, but I hope to be a pageant mom whenever I get blessed with a little bundle of joy. I'll probably wait until my girl is 2 or 3 before I enter her. (though some pageants accept girls as young as a month old.) I love it and even design my own pageant clothing.
My costume. I'm from Texas, but I wouldn't want to do a typical cowgirl outfit. I think that since Texas has a growing hispanic/mexican community--though I am Black-- I'd try to come up with something that incorporates the American Flag, The Texan Flag and the Mexican flag. I've never had to actually come up with a state costume, thought I have represented my state several times in contests.
I've traveled out of state a few times, I try to keep my pageanteering inside of Texas, cause gas prices are killer! LOL!
And YES I can tell you like pageants. ;D I wish more people did.

@ Woops:
Wow, Top Five, That's kind of hard but here's a rough list:
--Black or White (unedited version)
--Who is it?
--Blood on the Dance Floor (original edit)
--Rock With You
--Another Part of Me (live from Austrailia, 1988)
My least favorite is probably Heal the World, only because Michael does not make an appearance in the video. I love the song though, and usually watch the version of Heal the World he performed at the 1993 Superbowl.
@ Howard:
Yes, I am aware of it. There are already some people in the MJ fan community planning for his party because alot of the look alikes do parties for him and alot of the fans host parties also. I haven't been to one, but my friends and I always party at my house.
And Michael looks about the same now as he did ten years ago. The only thing that's changed is his hair. LOL. :D
I appreciate the questions. Thanks so much! Post more. I love answering them!

@ Howard:
That's a rude question. >:( His nose is still attatched to his face and he has only altered it over the years! And it will not fall off.
@ Bookmistress:
Michael Jackson has been inspired by the likes of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelley and of course, James Brown and Jackie Wilson. Michael has taken steps from them and recreated them and put some of that moonwalker magic on them to make them his own. I've seen Michael tap dance when he was 18 like Fred Astaire on the Jacksons Variety show, and dance like JB in the 80s. Michael's moonwalk his based on the mime act called "walking against the wind" where a mime will open an umberella and act like a strong wind is blowing on him. Michael has taken elements from miming, jazz, tap, and so forth and applied them to his own dancing to create something trademark and unique. ;D
@ Philip:
Michael's nose is still his. Just like a woman with breast implants, boobs are still her own, just altered. It's not like Michael can open a box and pick noses out like you can pick out a pair of earrings. As far as I know, Michael has had been two and six nose alterations. His nose doesn't concern me. I love his music and his career and everything and his nose is just so trivail. I don't care. Everyone has a nose and what they do to it is there business.
And please no more plastic surgery questions. His nose and chin have only been altered. His lips, eyes, and cheeks are his. His skin lightening has been caused by a skin condition called vitiligo that takes the pigmentation out his skin and he uses make up to even it out. Michael has stated that that skin condition is common on his father's side of the family. I've seen alot of Michael's cousins and they are all pretty fair skinned.
I hope that covers all the MJ body related issues. LOL.

Are you a member of any of his fan clubs?
Have you ever seen him live in concert?
What is your favorite pageant gown that you've put together, describe it for me please?
Do you have a talent that you do in pageants?
Are talent portion of the pageant becoming a thing of the past?
What, if any, have been some of the hardest questions you've had to answer in the interview portion of any pageants you may have been in?

Hi guys!
@ Bookmistress:
There are several names that MJ fans run under. Many girls call themselves after "Billie Jean" and "Dirty Diana", and just in general, we call ourselves "Michaelers". Certain fanclubs have names according to what they're called. I have a group called The Michael Jackson Mafia and we call ourselves the Mobsters. (Goodfellas is one of my fave films!) And a friend of mine has one called MJ Surfer Babes and they're called The Surfers.
I am a member of so many clubs it's ridiculous. I literally stopped counting after 100. Seriously. ::)
I haven't had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Jackson in concert just yet...but I'm working on it.
I can do better than describe the gown for you. Here's a skectch of the dress I did myself. (My friends call it the Sprite soda dress)
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b191/guarinigirl2000/YGdress.jpg I wore this at a contest I did in February.
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b191/guarinigirl2000/PRoutfit.jpg And this is a sportwear I based off a costume Prince wore on his Purple Rain Tour. (His was white lace)
I usually sing at pageants. You Are Not Alone is sort of my signature song.
Talent is getting bigger in the home grown pageant systems. I've seen girls dance, sing, do gymnastics and everything like a pro. The only thing dying is baton twirling.
Let's see the hardest question I've ever had was a few years ago when some one asked me about foreign policy and at the time I didn't know what it was. So I kind of had to wing it. I lost "spokesmodel" on that one.
@ Howard:
Yes, there should be a new album out by Spring/Summer '08. Michael will on the cover of December's issue of Ebony Magazine, and there is a large article on him in. It's out on Monday.
@ Philip:
Michael is moving around between Ireland, New York and Los Angeles as far as I know. I'm sure he's in California, most of his family lives there. He has one sister in Kentucky though. :)
Thanks for the questions y'all!

@ Philip:
You live in Ireland? I know that Michael was holed up in some castle over there, doing some recording with Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas.
@Howard:
I haven't been able to find any MJ jackets in my price range, but I actually have a Michael Jackson doll that came out in 1984 and he's in the "Beat It" outfit. (The other one is in the "Billie Jean" video outfit.)
I actually don't want anything that looks exactly what Michael wore. If I wear it to a concert there will be 500 other people with the same thing on. Gimme a black version of the "Beat It" jacket or a green version of the outfit MJ wore to the 84 American Music Awards. Michael rewrote the rules of fashion and I think fans should too. 8)
@ Bookmistress:
Thanks so much for the comments on the sketches. I'm pretty close to aging out of the usual pageant systems, so I'd like to maybe design for people. I have a ton of sketches. http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/09/scream.gif
I've learned a couple of Michael's moves. I can moonwalk, and I know some moves from his videos. I can do some of the "Thriller" dance. I've incorporated some of his moves into modeling routines for pageants.
You're not being repetitive. ;)
Oh gosh, I know I've done at least 40 contests over the years. Haven't really counted. When I started, I didn't really win anything. LOL. I think that the one with the most unusual name was Miss Rice Festival. (I didn't even place in that!) LOL.
Around these parts we have Miss Pecan Queen, Miss Rice Festival Queen, Miss Mardi Gras, Miss Cajun Queen, and since Texas has a lot of Hispanic citizens, there are some pageants like "Miss Hispanic Heritage". I don't usually do the little local things, because they conflict with the other glitz pageant systems I go to.
@ Hot Stuff:
Thanks for the compliment. I love to sketch. I've drawn alot of inspiration from what I've seen Michael Jackson and Prince and Apollonia Kotero wear. Some of thier stuff looks like pageant clothing ready to go.
@ Brigitte:
Yes. I love "Ben" I actually have two versions of it. The studio one Michael did when he was about 12 years old and a live version he did in 1981 when he was about 23. ( I like the live version better. LOL.)
Once again, thank you for the questions and comments! ;D

I love "Farewell My Summer Love" is one of my favorite MJ songs of all time! ;D It's a beautiful track.
It was recorded in 1973 when Michael was 15 (you can hear his voice is deeper than in earlier J-5 records) but it wasn't realeased until 1984 as an "undicscovered" track.

Hi Guys!
Once again, wonderful questions!
@ Bookmistress:
Okay I love the whole Arsenio Hall thing. First off all, off the bat, Michael was looking pretty hot in all that black and red. Michael initially came out to give Eddie Murphy an award, and then Eddie and Arsenio surprised Michael with an award having to do with Thriller. (I can't remember what the exact award was and PLEASE don't make me go through my archives to look! LOL!) Michael and Eddie were pretty close friends and Eddie even appeared in Michael's "Remember the Time" video.
Michael has worked with a lot of great directors on his videos. John Ladis did direct Thriller and also directed Michael's Black or White video. (I even have footage of Michael and Macauly Culkin smaching him with pies when the video wrapped.)
Some Other videos and directors:
Don't Stop Til You Get Enough--Nick Saxton
Rock With You--Bruce Gowers
Billie Jean--Steve Barron
Beat It--Bob Giraldi (I hear he also directed the Pepsi commercial that Michael got burned filming)
Bad--Martin Scorcese--yes, THE Martin Scorsese!
The Way You Make Me Feel and Dirty Diana--Joe Pytka (I love Dirty Diana!)
Michael also directed his video for the song "In The Closet" that was shot by late famed photographer Herb Ritts and featured supermodel Naomi Capmbell. I don't know if she threw a phone at him or not. ;D It's a pretty hot vid. ;)
If I missed any videos--I have about maybe 30 of his vids and clips from Jacksons ones--please give me the video name and I'll find the director's name.
@Howard:
Ok. I think it was called that cause that's when they released trhe song, probably trying to cash in on the Michael Jackson Thriller mania.
Everyone was sticking Michael's face on stuff. I even know a lady with Michael's face on an earrings/necklace set. (She WON'T sell it!) >:(
Thanks for the questions! Keep them coming!

Wow Howard. LOL.
I like Michael's hair the way it is now. It's so long and pretty and lush. ;D A lot of the fams want him to else curl it or cut it shorter like in his You Are Not Alone video. (I don't want him to cut it like that, cause it'll look too much like Prince's hair and the last thing I want is people to say he's copying him! ::) )

Any pageants coming up for you?
Would you like to be a judge in a pageant or perhaps a host or maybe just someone behind the scenes to help the girls get on the stage in one piece..?

@Bookmistress:
As of right now, I don't have any pageants coming up. A friend of mine was supposed to do a Halloween themed one last month, but it got cancelled. (after all our hard work!)
I'd hate to be a judge at a pageant because nowadays, all the contestants are so good, I'd die trying to choose just one winner. I'd rather host, I love to speak.
My favorite emcee is Mr. Tim Whitmer because he's "the voice of pageants". LOL. He's so professional and puts on a good show. http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/bouncered.gif http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/bounce4.gif http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/bounce2.gif http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/bounce.gif http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/boldblue.gif http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/boldlblue.gif http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/02/boldred.gif

Hi!
@Howard:
Okay, I had a brain blurp when I answered that question earlier. Yes, I saw Jacksons:An American Dream when it reaired in 1995. The timing was immaculate. I had been a fan of Michael for maybe 3 months when it aired. I leanred alot about him and his family.
I also liked Wylie Draper--played the teen/older Michael. It's a shame he died soon after the movie wrapped production. :\'(
I have the film on tape and plan to get it on DVD soon. `
Did you know Jermaine's son portrayed him in the movie? :)

Yes, Michael has toured Canda several times ranging from back when he was in the Jackson Five all the way up to his Dangerous tour. (1992-1993) There's rumours of a new tour for next year, he might go back to Canada.
Michael gets around. LOL. :D
Please give me more questions, and feel free to ask more than one everybody! ;D

@Howard: I assume that you mean out of Michael's siblings. At 57 years old, his sister Maureen (Rebbie) is the oldest. The oldest boy is Jackie, who I think is 56.
This is Rebbie:

That's her in the middle with Latoya and Chris Tucker.
And this is Jackie:

@ Howard:
Yeah, I beleive that the young teen Jermaine was played by Jermaine's son. (Not the oldest "Jermaine" but the middle one, the sort of darker skinned one. If you notice, the "adult" Jermaine is lighter than the "teen" one. :) )
Thanks.

Hi guys! Thanks for the questions!
@Bookmistress: Thanks alot! ;D
How many Michael dolls were made...There's the "Beat It" doll--that I'm kissing--the "Thriller" doll, "Billie Jean" (there's one in an outfit like the BJ video and then one like on the Motown 25) "Human Nature" doll. (He comes in a white shirt, yellow sweater vest, bowtie and silver pants. If you look closely, there's a doll box in the background with Michael on it, the doll is based on that outfit.) And there's a Grammy awards Michael (I have the doll outfit) It comes with a shiny blue military jacket, gold pants, glitter socks, loafers, and the glitter glove. And the really rare American Music Awards Michael,, he's in a red and gold militarty jacket, black pants and has a BLACK glove instead of a white one. (he wore a black glove to the awards show)
I actually never had a chance to play the Moonwalker video game, but one of my friends has it--but not the game system to play it on >:(. She has the Sega Genesis version of the game.
@Howard. Thank you. :) And I try hard to be as good as fan as I can. 12 years strong. ;)
I look forward to more questions. ;D

What started you into being such a big fan of Michaels? I admit I was also a big fan back in his Thriller days. I still enjoy alot of his music. Such a talented fellow. Such a sad life.
His oldest sister, Rebbie, she made an awesome song called "Centipede" in the 80s, have you ever heard it?
Who are some of the artists that Michael has produced/mentored?

@Bookmistress:
Hi!
I actually got into Michael Jackson by pure accident. I had seen his "Leave Me Alone" video when I was 3 "Thriller" when I was six, but other than that, I didn't know much about Michael. I happened to catch his 20/20 interview with Barbara Walters with his now ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley. I watched the whole thing and was just captivated and enthralled by the talent bouncing across the screen. (I was nine years old at the time.) And they showed a clip of him singing "Billie Jean" and I was surprised that I knew the words to the song. (And they premiered the You Are Not Alone video.)Michael was so different from the people I had liked when I was younger--MC Hammer and New Kids on the Block. I begged my mom for a week to buy me a Michael album after that. When I got it, I was hooked and the last dozen years of my life have been great!
I just think that Michael is a special person, and I adore him alot.
I've heard "Centipede" a couple of times, it's a nice song.
Michael has produced a few artists. A couple that I know of are SWV (sisters with voices), Brownstone, and 3T (they are actually Tito's three sons, Michael's nephews)
This is 3T:

L-R: Taryll, TJ, and Taj. (If I find a more recent picture of them, I'll post it!)
And I found some pics of the dolls in the box, and some of the doll outfits.

This is the Motown 25th outfit. I dunno where in the Sam Hill they came up with a silver jacket, because Michael has ALWAYS worn a black jacket and white shirt while singing this song. I've seen "Billie Jean" dozens of times over the years, through three different tours and the outfit is ALWAYS the same. But it's still cute.

Subject: Re: Ask Me Anything About Michael Jackson and Beauty Pageants

Hi Howard.
Michael Jackson has never wanted to buy John Merrick's (the Elephant Man's) bones! It's immoral and morbid.
Michael, though does have an admiration for Mr. Merrick and the struggles he over came because of his disorder. The movie based on his life is one of Michael's favorites. It was all just a rumour.
And in Michael's 1988 "Leave Me Alone" music video, he even poked fun at the rumour by dancing with a clayanimation figure of the Elephant Man. :D Scared me (bleep)less when I was younger.
Thanks for the question! I look forward to more. I know there's gotta be tons of things people want to know about Michael!!!!

Alright more questions!
@Bookmistress:
Yes, Michael has spoken about his children on numerous occasions. In his recent Ebony Magazine interview, Blanket was in the room for most of the interview.
Michael would like to see his children follow his footsteps in the music biz, but wants them to wait until their adults so they can enjoy thier childhoods.
Michael's little girl is named after the place she was concieved, Michael, and Michael's mother. Her full name is Paris Katherine Michael Jackson. (I swear on a stack of bibles, she has his name in her name!)
I'm not sure who's the godparents of Blanket, but for the older two, Prince and Paris, Macauly Culkin is the godfather and Elizabeth Taylor is the godmother.
@Howard. LOL.
Both Michael's sons are named after Michael's maternal grandfather Prince Albert Scruse. (Prince Michael Jackson, Jr. and Prince Michael Jackson III) And the younger one is called "Blanket" as a nickname. The little boy "blankets" people with affection, hugs...etc, and the name grew out of that. It comes from a saying Michael has used for years, blanketing people. Whenever he meets people, Michael is very sweet and hugs them. Especially fans.
Thanks for the questions.
Keep'em coming!

Hi Y'all!
@Bookmistress:
No, I don't sew my own dresses. My mom's friend, who lives in Oklahoma does them for me. I just email the sketches to her and she does the rest. I was going to learn to sew, but the lady who was going to teach me unfourtunately died. :(
No, I didn't. Those, to me, are nothing but popularity contests and I'd rather do a real pageant where you're judged on more than if you're head cheerleader and have big boobs.
I like that pageants have given me confidence to go out and talk to people. My public speaking is great because I always get up in front of the crowd at shows and do the interview segment and all. And I like that I get to feel like a star for a day. Like Paris Hilton--except I have underwear on. ;D
@Howard:
Yeah, I've seen it. I have part of the commercial on tape. It's so cute. I love it. If you notice, I think over a 6 year period, Michael Jackson did about 10 Pepsi Cola spots, he NEVER drank the soda in the commercials. He may have held the can, but he never drank from it. I've seen spots from 1984 and 1988. He never drank the cola. I think he had it written in his contract to not drink it.
I've seen him drink Shasta soda though. LOL.
Even though he endorsed it, I haven't drank Pepsi or Pepsi products since I was about 12 when I found out that Pepsi fired him in 1993, after the allegations.
The also fired Madonna after her "Like a Prayer" vid came out and Prince was supposed to do a commercial also around 1990-1991 right after he did the "Batman" soundtrack but he got canned too. (Not sure why he got fired, but I think the bottomless trousers had something to do with it. Don't quote me though.)
They fired the "Musical Trinity". Kinda sucks.
Well thanks for the questions and I look forward to more!
HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

Yeah, I have a few sites that I go to to see videos. (I have alot of MJ's music, so I just play cds. ) There's some really good rare ones out there.
@Bookmistress:
If I could ask Michael anything, it would be "Would you move back to Neverland, and give me a tour of it." I've been wanting to go to Neverland since I was a kid. (One of my friends thought he actually charged people to use his amusement park. LOL)
And as far as I know he's close to all of them. They don't get to see each other as much as they like, but they have get togethers throughout the year. (I heard Michael say this in an interview.)
Oh, and Bookmistress. You were asking about Michael's kids performing. On Michael's Invincible album there's a song called The Lost Children and all through out the song and especially at the end, you can hear his oldest son, Prince, singing and speaking in the song. (He was about 3 or 4 when the song was recorded.) It's a sweet song. ;D
Thanks for all the questions!
Keep throwing them at me! ;)

Hi Woops!
Yes that really is Michael Jackson's voice you hear on the Simpsons. I'm not sure why he used the pseudonym "John Jay Smith". but it always seems the more Michael tries to hide, the more he sticks out. ;D
Case in point: Michael shopping a few days ago in California:
http://mjjpictures.free.fr/20062007/various/shopping_la/019.jpg
I dunno who he was trying to fool, but I applaud the effort. ;D Fans found him anyway. We have MJ-dar and can spot him a mile away. LOL. And besides if it's 180 degrees out and you see a tall thin man in long clothes and a cap and towel, I'll bet anyone a steak dinner it's Michael Jackson! ;D
As far as the MJ/Simpsons connection, in the end of Michael's "Black or White" video you see Bart dancing to the song and Homer (eating a bananna--not drinking a Duff beer!) tells him to pipe down. Also the song Michael sings, "Happy Birthday Lisa" has been released as a single in some countries.

I just wanted to keep the options open. I know alot of look alikes were there.
(There was also a French look alike, but I can't find a photo of him.)
To be honest, I never really paid attention to the look alikes, just Michael because I was very very unhappy with the trial and focused on Michael, his appearance and his health.
Thanks for the question, that really made me think! ;D

To be honest, I never really paid attention to the look alikes, just Michael because I was very very unhappy with the trial and focused on Michael, his appearance and his health.
Thanks for the question, that really made me think! ;D
I'll look him up if I have the chance.

I just read recently about the horrible incident of a beauty pageant contestant, Ingrid Marie Rivera....whose makeup and dress were covered in pepper spray, resulting in her breaking out in horrible hives, etc. Thankfully, she didn't give up and ended up winning.
Anyway, do you see this kind of immaturity often in the beauty pageant world.....other ladies/contestants being so jealous/vindictive...that they would pull this kind of prank on someone?

Hi Guys!
@ Philip:
http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/01/balloons.gif That's good news. I hope it's true. Alot of MJ-ers aren't taking Jermaine too seriously though because he talks alot... ;D But I hope it's true. I wanna go see Michael. And I dunno why they keep saying Jackson Five--it's The Jacksons now. (Since it's all six brothers! :) )
@Quirk:
I heard about that. That was so awful, but I can't say I haven't heard of anything like that before. Nothing like that has happened to me, and I've never done anything like that.
I've been extremely picky about the pageants I do since I was about 12. When I was 12 and at a pageant with my mom there was a girl in my age group, and she got terrorized. Whoever targted her broke the heels off her shoes, and put black paint on her clothing. It was awful. A lot of the pageants I did when I was young, used to have the girls all in one room and you all changed in there and did hair and make-up, but after that incident, my mom and I only chose pageants where I could book a hotel room to myself. And I'm superguared now. At the last pageant I went to, I had about 5 or 6 of my friends with me, and I had one friend walk with me to get my hair and make up done and the rest watchdogged my room and made sure no one messed with my clothes.
That's the ugly side of beauty pageants.
Thanks guys and send more questions!

Wow, when you said the look alike at the trial, I thought you meant one of the protesters out front of the courthouse. Ed Moss never corssed my mind. LOL. But I did watch the trial reenactments every night on TV. I just thought it was pretty cool that every day he managed to have a carbon copy of the suit Michael wore to court the previous day. (And Ed Moss looks a little too fat to have portrayed Michael Jackson.)
This looks like the outfit that Ed's outfit was based on. LOL

Did he have any design aspirations? I mean, did he design the sparkly glove or jacket? Does he usually wear loafer shoes?
I think he might have helped design a theme park ride at Disney (Florida) awhile ago, I think it was based on his Moonwalker video or something.
You've had tremendous success with your ask me threads! I had an ask me thread once (about libraries) and I think I might have had 10 questions total. lol ;D
Is there, what would be considered to be, a Beauty Pageant Season? Like... one month where there are TONS of pageants all at once?

Hi Everyone!
@Bookmistress:
I'm not quite sure where Michael gets his design elements from. But another man designed Michael's trademark glove. (The original one had 1,200 rhinestones on it, and he actually started wearing a glove in 1981 on the Triumph tour, two years before the Motown 25) The purpose behind Michael's jacket and glove (and later, white tape on his fingers) was so that everyone no matter where you were in the audience, front row or nosebleed seats, you can see him moving onstage. (I'll look into the name of the man that makes Michael's clothing. The last person I heard of making clothes for him was a man named Michael Bush.)
In 1986, a video and ride debuted at Disneyland called "Captain EO". I've never been on the ride, but I did see the video. It's pretty awesome. It's the only music video Michael did during the transitional phase between Thriller and Bad. (He still has a short Jherri Kurl, but his skin is starting to get lighter.)
I think that Neverland could have been based on Michael's Leave Me Alone video. In it he's making fun of the press who keeps making up wild stories about him,and he made himself into a theme park to kind of show how the press plays on him, and doesn't treat him as a person. I like it.

The Captain EO Movie Poster.
There was even a line of toys that came out in the late 80s that featured some of the creatures in the movie.
Thanks, I didn't think my threads would get this many hits, but I guess people have alot of questions about Michael and Prince. I don't mind answering nice questions. And I appreciate all the nice ones I've gotten. ;D
Well for me pageant season is summer vacation, because everyone is out of school and there's lot of festivals and fairs that offer pageants, plus the big pageant systems have thier own contests. (I'd much rather go around in the summer, it's alot more fun!) It;s more fun to be at a pageant with 50 girls than just five. LOL.
@Howard: I like that site. I first met E'Casanova through that site. ;D
Thanks for the questions guys, I appreciate them, and love answering them!

Hi Howard.
Captain EO came out in 1986. I love it, because it's pretty much the only project Michael did the year I was born and I love everything about it. ;D

What was Captain Eo based on?
Subject: Re: Ask Me Anything About Michael Jackson and Beauty Pageants

Hi Howard:
Captain EO is loosely based on Star Wars. (George Lucas had a hand in the production) Michael is the captain of a space shuttle and they have to save the universe from an evil witch--played by Anjelica Huston I think--and he has a bunch of little creatures that look like Furbies.
It has a big song and dance number in it. It's like Beat It, in space. I like it. There's a website somewhere with it on it, when I find it, I'll let you know. ;D
Michael worked with alot of big name directors, Lucas, Scorcesse, Landis, etc, but he never actually made a full length film in the 80s. I feel cheated. :\'( LOL.
Thanks and ask more questions if you get a chance!

Do they think he's capable of starring in a big production film? ???

Hi Howard:
Yes, I think that Michael is capable of starring a large production film. He'd just have to be extremely particular in what type of roll he plays. I mean nobody'd beleive him as a gigilo or as a murderer. I see him more as playing a role closer to who he is, like a sweet innocent type of thing. I watch a lot of Jimmy Stewart movies and Jimmy plays alot of nice guys and I'd like to see Michael play something like that.
And Michael played the Scarecrow in the movie version of The Wiz. He has a cute knack for comedy.
But Michael is like Prince, he usually writes and produces his own things as opposed to doing someone else's films. He had a cameo in Men in Black 2 and I barely heard him because everyone started screaming like (bleep)s when he came on the screen. (Good screaming though) And he acted pretty well there.
I just kind of hope that whatever he does, it's A-List all the way. God forbid he makes a flop.

Michael's favorite colors are red and black. His favorite food is Mexican food and sushi. And I think his favorite place in the world is Germany. (And Neverland before 2005. http://www.inthe00s.com/smile/11/crybaby2.gif)

Hi Howard:
There are three ways I can answer this question:
One:
I assume that you're referring to Michael's skin color and complexion. Michael Jackson has a skin disorder called Vitiligo that takes the color out of his skin. (I actually went to school with a girl with the same disorder. She was very dark-skinned and the white patches it made on her skin were very noticiable.) He is not going to get darker. He will stay light like he is now.

http://mjjpictures.free.fr/20032005/col/arriving/001.jpg
Two:
You are referring to Michael's hair. I would love to see it shorter, but he's living in the long style now. I doubt he'll ever go back to a Jherri Kurl or an Afro. (He went curly in 2002 and I didn't really like it and he wore an afro for a party in 2001--no comment. ;) ) Most of us fans want a short haircut like he had in 1995 at the MTV Video Music Awards. Hands down one of the best performances he's ever done.
http://mjjpictures.free.fr/history/awards/vma/001.jpg
I love this hairdo on him!
Three:
You're referring to Michael's fashion. The 80s are over and I so miss them. In the 80s we say about three different sides to Michael Jackson. In the early 80s he was wearing very elaborate heavy 40-pound jackets. (Increasing his weight from about 120 to 160 pounds) to the late 80s where he was wearing more sort of rock inspired looks with black leather and chains and stuff. Sort of Psuedo-Thug. And off stage, his look was suburban preppie with sweater vests and bow ties. I have seen the military style jackets in recent years, but now he's like a celebrity Emo because he's wearing so much black all the time. Makes me sad. He looks wonderful in color.

Michael in 1986. He's still sort of military, but his jacket isn't nearly as heavy or intricate.

Also a shot from 1986, he's hedging off into the look that would become synonomous with the Bad album.
http://mjjpictures.free.fr/bad/photoshoots/misc/013.jpg
Photoshoot from 1987. Michael's hair is longer and he's sporting a somewhat tougher image to go along with the Bad vibe. Leather, chains. Like a PG version of Prince. He wore this style of clothing off and on until about 1997 or 1998. (I love Michael's fashion, so I try to keep up with him. ;D )
http://mjjpictures.free.fr/bad/photoshoots/misc/008.jpg
And even in the late 80s, he's still doing a sort of preppy look.
http://mjjpictures.free.fr/history/photoshoots/vibe/008.jpg
He even tried to go for a hip-hop look in 1995 for Vibe magazine. A lot of people like this one. I like it too. I've seen him wear a look like this last year, but I can't locate a pic!
I hope that helped.
Please feel free to ask more questions! Thanks! This was fun!

Hi Guys!
@Bookmistress:
Michael's glove is more of a fashion statement. Michael's onstage clothing all serves a purpose. He wears the glove so you can see his every hand movement no matter where he is and the white socks so you can see his feet movements. But there was a symbolism in it to Michael. He once said that as long as he had the glove on, he was never offstage. (I have seen a display of Michael's that had multicolored gloves in it) I like to see him wear a black one.
@Howard:
You're welcome. I'm all the place for photos. I know Michael's fashion so well it's silly. (Alot of my friends say I should be his stylist. LOL)
Thanks for the questions! Please ask more. :D
