Where did you go on your birthday? ???
Nowhere important. Didn't have a party or anything like that.

So no one got anything special for you? ???
Nope.
The reason behind it is pretty complex, although it doesn't have anything to do with my birthday in and of itself.

Maybe I already asked you this, but I'm just wondering: How did you become fascinated with Japanese culture?

It started with Ranma 1/2 mainly, although I did like the artwork for Japanese import games I saw in EGM magazines before I finally got into anime.
I just find some things fascinating about it, kinda hard to explain. But it's also not the only foreign type of stuff that I like. ;)

Josie and the pussycats was one of influences:

I know they're not actual catgirls, but they are in a nekomimi(cat-eared) mode costume wise.
The other two main influences: Pink from Dragon Pink(Adult anime) and Felicia from Darkstalkers(video game).

I've never seen it before.
It's an old Japanese game show from the 80's (originally called Takeshi's Castle) where the contestants have to navigate these difficult obstacles.
Spike TV picked it up about 5 years ago and overdubbed it in English, and the commentary is moderately risque and off-color and has little to do with the original show, but it's also the funniest part.
Here's a good clip:

It's pretty ammusing. ;D
I don't have cable, although when my mom did, I had watched Spike TV one time when over for the holidays. They had this parody show called "Behind the music that sucks!" on that day(I think it was a marathon of sorts).

That first one.... Ouch.
The second and third were pretty good.
Hearing all that Japanese dialogue makes me think of the subtitle anime I've watched.
