Subject: Ask Me About Television

Written By: Silver Power on 01/16/09 at 10:03 pm

Reality Television, Daytime TV, Cartoons, Sitcoms, Crime Shows, ask me anything, and I'll try to answer sarcastically to the best of my ability!

If my answers are correct, don't you think I deserve KARAMEL?

♦ Why did Wilson never show his face?

♦ Why did Howard and Marion eventually pretend that Chuck never existed? LOL

♦ Why was Jake not called the Thin Man?  After all, the Fatman was Fat!

♦ If Punky Brewster ever visited the Police Academy and came face to face with Cmdt. Lassard, would she mistake him for Henry? LOL

1. He had pimples.

2. They didn't, they forgot.

3. Because the Tin Man was threatening legal action on Jake if he did. Wizard of Oz is fading, the characters will do anything for attention. I heard Toto attempted suicide.

4. No, she would probably mistake him for Bob Barker.

Hope that I've enlightened you.

--Which season did Tootie get her braces off on the "Facts of Life"?

--Which episode was it that Crockett got his car blown up on "Miami Vice"

--Where can I get a Michael Jackson poster like Punky hung in the apartment on "Punky Brewster"?

Thanks!  ;D

1. Summer, because she had to look good for the beach.

2. The episode is called 'Should've Called Geico'.

3. Are you quizzing me, or is this a serious question?

4. Trick question! It was cancelled in 2004!

He wasn't thinking. That was his brain on drugs. Any questions? Bochco,  and in 1990, he attempted to make a musical called 'Cop Rock'. Unfortunately, musicals were more of a 70s-80s thing, so it was a flop.]

I was just watching a video of Pogle's wood online a couple weeks ago! I hated, but I was also wondering about the music.

Oliver Postgate (RIP) is the man who wrote and narrated the story.  Ivor is probably Ivor the Engine, another Postgate production.

I used to find Pogle's Wood scary as a kid but I wouldn't mind watching it now.  Sadly it wasn't one of the Postgate shows on endless re-run.  I wonder if Netflix have it...

I also have dim memories of another UK programme using the same theme tune...

Sorry I couldn't figure it out. When I was a kid, I would only consider one show scary to my memory, and that was 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark' on Nickelodeon in the late 90s. I don't think it plays anymore.

Not sure if it ever had a 'name' as such, but I had an idea that it had something to do with Vernon Elliott, who composed most of the incidental music for Oliver's creations...

And after a bit of searching...Lo and behold!

Is it only a British thing to abbreviate it to telly?

Subject: Re: Ask Me About Television

Written By: Silver Power on 02/02/09 at 9:43 pm

Well, in the US, some people say 'Tele' as slang, but not often anymore. Most Americans say 'TV'. Britain is the only country I've known to actually use that word. Maybe Austrailia also?
